GOSH “Holographic Hero” – Swatches and Review

Hi readers!

Today I have a holographic nail polish to show you, it’s GOSH Holographic Hero.

This is the first holographic nail polish that I try and I love it, I need more! This polish was not love at first brush stroke though, I only loved my nails once everything was done and dry.

This polish runs thin, I needed 3 coats for full coverage. It also pulls so do not pass on the same spot more than once when applying a coat, otherwise you will end up with an “empty” spot where the brush first touched (it kinda removes the polish).

The brush is the regular size brush, but the wand is short since the bottle is short (as you can see in the full hand picture lower).

This polish dries to a dull finish so I added a top coat (Nubar Diamont). When you first add the top coat it looks like it takes away the holographic effect of the polish, but once it dries the holographic-ness shines through!

These pictures do not do the polish justice, it’s hard to capture the holographic effect. You can see the rainbow in the pictures, but there’s a dimension effect that the camera just can’t pick up. You really need to see these in real life.

I know other brands make holographic polishes in an array of colours and I need to get some more, this is just too cool!

What do you think? Have you tried holographic polishes?

  • I'm glad you like this one. I bought it for a nail swap but wasn't sure what it was like. I love holos

    • Being the first holo I try I have nothing to compare it with, but I do love the finished product. I will need to try others, I want more colours!

  • Good to hear that this one is good! I am waiting for the weather to pick up here on the west coast so you can see that holo shine! It all has to do with the kind of light and blah blah wave lengths which is why indoor and artificial lighting doesn't fully expose the holographicness – in either case, I can totally tell from your photos that the holo effect is still there, which is great!

Also thanks for the warning that the formula pulls – you know that's one of my top application problems! I definitely end up patchy sometimes.

    • I'll definitely need to try more holos in the summer and get pictures in the sun, these were all in my light box. I need to get colours holos though, the effect is just too cool and I want more!

I also have problems with pulling polishes. I always start with a line down the middle, then one to the left and the right, then like 5 more all over to even things out, lol!
