Essence “Stays No Matter What 24h Volume Mascara” – Review

Hi readers!

Today I’m sharing my experience with Essence’s Stays No Matter What 24h Volume Mascara.

This is part of the new products that Essence launched this winter/spring and when I saw it at Shoppers Drug Mart for $5 (CAD) I could not resist.

I have oily skin and I find that waterproof mascaras don’t always work for me, I always end up with raccoon eyes regardless. Let’s see how this one did…

On the back of the tube it says “24h volume mascara. waterproof. partyproof. lifeproof. ophthalmologically approved.” Sounds pretty good huh?

The brush is that typical mascara brush.

Here I am natural, followed by 1 coat and 2 coats (on one side only). I only did my upper lashes because that is how I usually wear my mascara. I find doing my lower lashes only speeds up the racooning effect.

Here’s what I look like 5 hours later.

There is a wee bit of racooning, but not too much.

And let’s see how it holds up against water… yup I sprayed water on my face. ๐Ÿ™‚

Not 100% waterproof, but still not that bad. I only sprayed my face with water so I don’t know how it would hold up to going swimming or something like that.

Given that I haven’t tried many mascaras I don’t know how it compares to others. There was a bit of racooning and it’s not 100% waterproof, but I still think it’s a relatively good mascara for the price.

Have you tried this one?

  • I just typed up my review on this mascara yesterday ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm loving it, going to order a few more for back ups!

    • Talk about timing! I'm looking forward to reading your review! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I can't stand applying mascara so I don't wear it. I always end up just caking on the eyeliner as you've seen from like the two pics I've ever posted of my face, lol. I think I would just wear extensions like my best friend. She just glues them on and wears them until they fall off, haha.

    • Yeah with thick and dark eyeliner you don't really need mascara. For my day-to-day wear I ONLY wear mascara, without it I feel my eyes get lost in my face.
I've never tried extensions that you apply yourself, but I do want to try them eventually. For my wedding I had the Misencil done and I loved it, but my husband found it freaky, he was not a fan. And it is expensive to maintain – around $50 every 3 weeks for touch-ups. So I'll stick to mascara for now. ๐Ÿ™‚
