Hard Candy “Jelly Bean Blue” – Swatches and Review

Happy Blue Monday!

It’s not a blue Monday for me because today is Victoria Day which means I had the day off, but it’s a blue nail polish and it’s Monday so… πŸ™‚ This glittery blue polish is from Hard Candy and is called Jelly Bean Blue from their Candy Sprinkles line.

Hellooo super nubbins! When I did my nails last weekend I decided to go extra short in preparation for the summer season (I play Ultimate Frisbee). I thought the league was starting this week, but it actually started last week so I’m glad I went super short when I did!

An afternoon of doing yard work = red knuckles. πŸ™‚

The brush is that wide and thin format, which I like.

You have to be careful when you wipe off the excess polish on the brush. Since the bottle is rather thin and long it seems to want to tip easily. I did not tip mine, but I came close a few times.

This polish is a light blue base with small hex glitters in royal blue and black. And you know what a glitter polish means??? MACRO SHOT!!! But I have to say, damn look at all those bubbles! *sigh* Thankfully they blend in with the glitters from a distance.

The formula was really nice to work with. I applied 3 coats, but 2 would be enough. I then followed with 3 coats of Gelous and 1 coat of Butter London Hardwear P.D. Quick Top Coat to get a nice smooth finish.

I really liked this one and I can’t wait to try the other ones I got.

Hard Candy nail polishes are available at Walmart for $4 (CAD).

Have you tried any of them?

  • Wow so pretty! Also you play ultimate?!?! That is awesome!

    • Thank you Jasmine! πŸ˜€
I love Ultimate! This summer starts my 10th year of playing. Wow, I didn't realized that before, time flies! hehe πŸ™‚

  • Teehee I like that photo of your nail over the bottle. Looks like it could be camoflaged! Are the bubbles from the formula or the use of top coat? I liked Sweet Tooth but I think I wouldn't pay any more money than I did.

    • Thanks Melissa! πŸ˜€
Too funny you mention the nail/camo photo cause I almost made a comment about how my thumb is "hidden" behind the polish, hehe! I think the bubbles are from the 100 layers of top coat because I don't wait long enough between coats. So I can thank my lack of patience for those. πŸ™‚
And yeah I wouldn't pay more than $4 for them either, but I really liked this one – way more than I thought I would.

  • This is the MOST gorgeous nail polish I've ever seen! thank you CRAZY much for sharing the review, Chantal!β™₯β™₯β™₯

  • Fantastic! Your bottle shots are the best!
