The Body Shop Tea Tree Cleansing Wipes – Review

Hi everyone!

While at The Body Shop last month I passed by the Tea Tree Cleansing Wipes and decided to grab a pack. In the summertime I play Ultimate Frisbee twice a week and I always remove my makeup before going to a game, and my favourite way to do so is with cleansing wipes. It’s just faster than washing with soap and water, and way more convenient when I have to get ready at work.

Here are a few stats about these wipes:

  • 25 wipes per pack
  • 8 x 6 in.
  • Remove make-up, impurities and oil
  • Reduce excess shine
  • Do not over-dry the skin
  • Handbag-friendly
  • Biodegradable

They have that sticky flap top opening, or whatever you call that. 🙂

Since I only use these twice a week I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the claim (gives clearer-looking skin when used as part of a regular regime). But I can talk about the cleansing aspect: I don’t wear much makeup (BB Cream and a bit of concealer under my eyes) but I always use 2 wipes to clean my face. I use every little corner of the wipe on both sides, but since it’s all dirty once I’m done with it I just feel like I need to use a clean wipe to make sure my face is really clean. I sometimes still get a wee bit of makeup residue with the second wipe.

It’s also not the best for the eye area. I don’t quite know how to describe the feeling though… it’s kind of like a cool burning – if that makes any sense.

These wipes are for “blemished skin” so I figured I could use them on my upper back as well. I’m able to keep my face quite clear of pimples by washing it twice a day, but my upper back is not as lucky. Cleaning the upper back is also not as easy as the face, so I was thinking that using these cleansing wipes could help with that.

Let’s talk about the smell… oh the smell. As you would expect given the name of the product, these smell like tea tree, and they REALLY REALLY SMELL like tea tree. And the smell lingers too, so if you’re not a fan of tea tree stay away from these. My husband will not get close to me after I’ve used these… so there goes my idea of using them on my upper back. But I do find the smell a bit too much for myself anyway; good thing I’m outside and doing lots of running after using these.

As a quick recap…

Pros
– I have none.

Cons
– Can require 2 wipes to fully remove makeup;
– Kind of burns on the eyes;
– Really strong smell.

Sooo, I will NOT be repurchasing these wipes.

These retail for $12.50 (CAD).

Have you tried these?

I go through phases where I buy lots of stuff from a specific store then I stop for a while, and right now I’m in a The Body Shop phase. Do you do that too?
