Happy Canada Day!
I’m so excited to show you my Canada Day nails because I’m thrilled with how they turned out!
Back in December I had done this exact same glitter gradient (minus the leaf) as a Christmas themed manicure for a brunch with my girlfriends (which I posted on my personal Instagram) and one of my them said that it would be nice for Canada Day as well. I fully agreed and kept the idea in the back of my mind… until now!
For this nail art I used:
- OPI in Alpine Snow – 3 coats
- China Glaze in Love Marilyn for the glitter gradient and the contour of the maple leaf
- A cutout of the maple leaf
- Milani in Hot Flash over the maple leaf image
I did not draw the maple leaf. I tried many attempts on a test sheet with various red polishes that I have, but I’m just not good at drawing. So I went through the house looking for a small maple leaf image, and I found some, YAY! I then took an exacto knife to cut it out, and on my 3rd attempt (I scrapped 2 leaves) I got a good clean cutout. So I put one thin coat of top coat and affixed the image on top of that. I then added some red glitter to it (Milani Hot Flash) so that it would match with the rest of the nail art. And tadaaa!
I then finished it all off with 3 coats of Gelous and 1 coat of Butter London Hardwear P.D. Quick Top Coat.
The theme for week 2 of the Busy Girl’s Summer Nail Art Challenge is glitter, so this is perfect for the challenge as well!
I love this nail art, I don’t want to remove it!
Did you do some red and white nail art for Canada Day? Or for my American readers, will you do some red, white and blue for Independence Day? If you did, please share them (links, pictures) in the comments below.
