Essence ”Drive With Me To The Island” (Ticket to Paradise LE) – Swatches and Review (plus OPI ”Pirouette My Whistle”)

Hi readers!

Tonight I have the first of three polishes from Essence‘s Ticket to Paradise limited edition (LE), and this one is called Drive With Me To The Island.

This LE actually has 4 polishes, but we only received 3 in Canada. You can see the display we got on my Instagram.

These polishes are described as a semi-transparent gel-like texture to create a cool, glossy wet-look. Let’s see how this first one is…

The brush on this one is wide and thin, like I love them.

This is a beautiful turquoise. These pictures are with 3 coats and no top coat.

The formula gives a nice shiny and even finish, but it is streaky and patchy, and it pulls at the cuticles. You can see some darker spots here and there from the streaks and the pulling.

I really liked the colour so I did not want to take it off, but I did not like the patchiness so I added OPI “Pirouette My Whistle” on top and I loved it! I then topped it off with 1 coat of Butter London Hardwear P.D. Quick Top Coat.

I went with thin coats on this one, but doing them again I would do medium coats instead. It would help avoid streaks, and 2 coats might be enough too.

I wore these for 4 days and they did not chip, I was really happy about that.

These polishes retail for $2.49 (CAD) and you should still be able to find some in your local Shoppers Drug Mart since they only came out in Canada about 2 weeks ago.

Did you get these? What do you think?

Tomorrow I will be sharing a second polish from this LE so stay tuned!
