The Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Conditioner – Review

Hi readers!

How are you all doing?  I’m beat!  I went to a boot camp class with a girlfriend tonight and my body doesn’t want to move anymore!  It felt good though, I needed that.  But my bed is calling my name so that’s where I’m headed right after this!

Today’s post is about The Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Conditioner.  I bought both of these during a 50% off sale so they cost me $4 (CAD) each.

I don’t know why they have different labels though.  All I can say is that I bought the shampoo online and the conditioner in a store.  On the web site they both have the green label (like the conditioner) so maybe the shampoo label is an old label…?  Anywhoo…

I forgot to take pictures before starting to use these… oops! 🙂

I used both of these for 3 weeks and here are my thoughts.

The Scent

As expected, these both smell like banana.  And it’s a real banana smell too, I could eat them!

The Shampoo

The shampoo is meant to gently cleanse and nourish your hair with a shampoo that smells good enough to eat and will leave your hair feeling clean, soft and silky.

I would describe this more as a clarifying shampoo.  It leaves your hair squeaky clean, but I find it’s too squeaky clean, like it strips your hair of all natural oils and moisture.

Jasmine from The Happy Sloths reviewed this product not too long ago and said that this shampoo really tangled her hair, and I can second that opinion.  I think it has to do with that “too squeaky” effect.

After using this shampoo you definitely need some conditioner…

The Conditioner

The conditioner is said to nourish and protect your hair with an irresistible smelling conditioner that leaves it free of tangles and easy to manage.

This conditioner works okay, it’s nothing special.  It didn’t leave my hair free of tangles though, my hair was more tangled with these products than it is with my regular products.

Bottom Line

They both smell delicious, but they’re not the right products for me.  I noticed that my hair seemed more dull and my curls just fell flat when I used these products.  I will still finish them, but I will only use them once a week because I find them too harsh for my hair.

I have to say that when I add The Body Shop Brazil Nut Beautifying Oil in my hair after using these products my hair smells like banana bread!  It smells SO YUMMY I can’t stop smelling my hair!

These retail for $8 (CAD) each.

Have you tried these?
