Today’s post is about The Body Shop Brazil Nut Beautifying Oil. I bough this back in the spring when The Body Shop had a special of buy 3 get 2 free for Love Your Body members (their rewards card).
When I saw that this product was for body, face and hair I was really curious about it, and it smells heavenly so I just had to pick it up.
This is said to be a dry oil, but I find it a bit oily. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is oily and 10 is dry, I would give this a 7.
In terms of colour, it is clear.
This product is described as having a sweet and nutty scent, and it really does smell sweet and nutty and OMG IT SMELLS DELICIOUS!!!
In The Hair
I mainly use this product in my hair, but given that it’s not really a dry oil it can give a greasy look to your hair if you use too much.
In these pictures I put about a loonie size amount in my hair. For those of you unfamiliar with our Canadian currency, here is a loonie in my hand for reference. 🙂
From afar it looks like I put mousse in my hair.
But when you get closer you can see that it’s oily and it looks like I have not washed my hair in weeks. (If you click on the picture to see the full size you’ll see the oiliness better.)
For this reason I usually only put about a dime size amount in my hair every 2-3 days.
However, I do put a little bit more, maybe a nickel size, when I put my hair up in a messy bun because it kind of gives it a mousse effect (wet look) without being crunchy, it stays nice and soft. My hair was went when I put it up, but this picture was taken 11 hours later.
On The Body
As I mentioned above this product is not a dry oil, so you do feel a bit oily when you put this on your body. You do not look oily though, it just gives you a nice sheen. But if you touch your arms or legs you will get a wee bit of oil transfer to your hands.
I use it on my arms once in a while because I really like the smell.
On The Face
I have not tried this product on my face and the thought actually scares me a bit. I have combination skin, and given that this product is a bit oily and is scented I can just see myself having major breakouts if I put it on my face. I’m not saying that this product will do that, I’m just afraid that it might.
As a Cuticle Oil
When I showed this oil to my brother’s girlfriend she put some on her cuticles and I said “huh, I never even thought of doing that”. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that!! Since then I’ve been using it on my cuticles too. I just have to be careful not to spend the day with my fingers up my nose because it just smells that good.
I absolutely love the smell of this oil! I don’t think I will buy it again though because it’s not as dry as I thought it would be.
The same day I showed this oil to my brother’s girlfriend she went on The Body Shop’s site and bought a few products from this line (scent), and I also added in the body butter for myself. I can’t wait to get it! It seriously smells that good.
Did I mention that it smells good?!? :p
Have you tried any of the beautifying oils from The Body Shop? What are your thoughts? If you have it, have you tried it on your face???
