Fontana Contarini ”the Compact Foundation” – Review

Hi everyone!

* Product sent for review. *

I was contacted by Cemrad T&M Inc. to try some makeup products from an Italian brand called Fontana Contarini. I’ve never heard of them before so I was happy to try this new-to-me brand!

Today I’m starting with the Compact Foundation. Keep on reading to find out what I thought of it.

Applicator

The compact comes with a sponge application that has its own storage underneath the foundation.

Scent

This product doesn’t have a strong scent, but I find it’s that typical makeup scent. It reminds me of my mom’s makeup from when I was a kid. Memories… Anywho, it’s very light and doesn’t linger.

Colour and Coverage

The only place that the colour is indicated is on the packaging – it’s not on the compact itself. So just remember which colour you have.

I was sent colour #1 which is their lightest shade. As I was putting it on it felt like it was disappearing into my face because it matched my skin so well!

Here’s a half-and-half to show you how it covers my redness and how well it matches my face. I have it applied on the same side of the product text in the picture.

And now a full application.

It does a pretty good coverage job, I would qualify this between medium and full coverage. You can still see the redness peek through my cheeks so blush is not required, but I could still use some if I wanted to sway the colour more pink or coral, etc.

Even though this foundation matched my face to a T, my face is kind of a shade darker than my neck and having this foundation even out my skin tone kind of highlighted that fact. I tried to blend it in as much as I could on my neck, but you could still see where the foundation ended. I took some pictures of my neck, but I don’t have a pretty neck so I didn’t want to show them. 🙂

That being said, this would be a good shade for me once I get a light tan this summer.

Formula

I found this foundation a bit drying and it highlighted my wrinkles. My pregnancy has changed my skin type from combo/oily to dry so at the moment I find this too drying for me. However, if my skin reverts back to combo/oily after my pregnancy I will definitely give this foundation another go to see how well it helps with the oiliness.

Bottom Line

Honestly I was quite impressed with this foundation. Apart from the drying aspect and being a shade too dark, it felt really light on my face and the coverage is right in the range that I’m comfortable with.

Have you heard of Fontana Contarini before?

I have a few more products from this brand to share with you, and other ladies from the Canadian Beauty Bloggers have received products for review as well, so keep an eye out for more which we’ll all be adding to the link-up below.
