I’ve been wanting to try a Konjac sponge for quite a while now, but since I have a Clarisonic that I love I never really looked into it because I wasn’t sure if I’d use it at all. However, since getting dry skin with my pregnancy I’ve pretty much stopped using my Clarisonic because I find it too harsh right now. I found it worked great when I had combo/oily skin cause it just felt like it really was getting into the pores to remove all the gunky residue, but now it just feels too much.
So I was extremely happy when I received this EcoTools Pure Complexion Facial Sponge for Sensitive Skin to try out because this is perfect timing!
Have you heard of Konjac sponges before? Curious about what these are? Keep on reading to find out!
Treat your skin to a gentle, yet better clean – just add your favourite mild facial cleanser and water! Wash away dirt, oil and makeup and leave skin glowing without over-drying or causing redness. Sponge is fragrance-free, colorant-free, dermatologist tested and gentle enough to be used morning and night.
For best results, use sponge daily. After each use, simply rinse sponge with water and lay flat to air dry. Taking care of your sponge will help it last longer. Replace every 1 to 3 months.
In case you’re wondering “what is Konjac?”
– A highly renewable perennial root plant mostly comprised of starch (similar to a potato)
– It grows in warm climates including Japan, Korea & Southeast Asia
This sponge is shaped like half an egg with one side flat and one side rounded. When it’s brand new it’s nice and full, but after you start using it it does shrink up a bit once dry. When you wet it though it always plumps back up to its full capacity.
I find it takes about 10 seconds under water to get it fully soft. Once wet it feels slippery like it already has soap in it (that’s what I thought the first time I used it), but it does not, it just feels like it.
I’ve used this sponge with both a cleansing oil and a regular lathering face cleanser and it worked great. With the cleansing oil I use this when it’s time to add water on your face to lather up the oil. And with regular cleanser I put the cleanser directly onto the sponge and work it into a nice lather.
Once you’re done just rinse the sponge under the tap and let it dry.
I find it gives a deeper cleansing than just using my fingers, but it’s not harsh in any way. I even pass over my eyes – gently – once in a while and it doesn’t irritate them at all.
I found my new favourite face cleansing tool. I LOVE it and use it all the time!
