This post was supposed to go live on July 1st, but sometimes shit happens so here it finally is! 🙂
This month, the Canadian Beauty Bloggers are celebrating summer with a month full of Julep nail polish swatches and reviews! I’m not a Julep Maven, but I have 2 Julep polishes because I bought a month from Cassandra from Exquisitely Chic. So I’ll only be participating briefly, but this gave me the opportunity to finally try them out.
I got the April 2014 box Classic with a Twist and today I’m showing you Mariska.
I love the brushes on these bottles, they’re wide and thin just like I love them, and these work really well. But I’m not a big fan of the bottles though because I always feel like I’m going to tip them over when I’m wiping the excess polish off the brush.
Julep describes this colour as a “juicy tangerine with iridescent shimmer”, but I don’t see any shimmer in this one – none at all.
The formula is a bit sheer and streaky so I used 3 coats for full opacity, but it is self-levelling and dries quite fast which I really like.
This polish has a waxy finish on its own, which I’m not a fan of. I usually add a top coat to all my manicures, but I did not for these pictures so you can see the natural finish of the polish.
For this next swatch I added Nubar Diamont Top Coat to make it shiny as I prefer my polishes this way.
I don’t find that orange tones go well with my skin tone and this polish is no exception, unfortunately.
What do you think of this colour, is this something you would wear? What is your opinion on waxy finishes? Have you seen all the colours that Julep has to offer?
