Guest Post: Zoë from Writing Whimsy

Hi everyone!

It’s guest post time again, and this month’s Canadian Beauty Blogger visiting my blog is the beautiful Zoë from Writing Whimsy.

I was following Zoë before the CBB was formed and I’m so happy I got to know her more through this group because she’s a sweetheart. She’s also our East Coast gal and she’s part of the reason why I started doing tea posts (which I’ll be resuming shortly). 🙂

Our theme this month is Fall Beauty and Zoë shares her fall beauty favourites. Let’s take a look…

Fall Beauty Favourites

I’m Zoë from Writing Whimsy and I’m really excited to guest post today and share some of my Fall Beauty Favourites! Chantal is one of the first beauty bloggers I subscribed to and I love her adorable nail art and fantastic half-and-half swatches.

When it comes to fall beauty, I’ve picked out six products that are all pretty new to me but that I can definitely see myself reaching for often as the weather cools down and the leaves start to fall. It’s a mix of high end and drugstore, so hopefully there’s something for everyone.

Fall Beauty Favourites 3

I love jewel tones for fall, and a recent purchase I made was the Too Faced Pretty Rebel Palette. I have only just started using this, but even swatching it I am in love with how buttery and pigmented the shades are (for my first swatches check out this Instagram photo). There is a great mix of more wearable browns and golds along with some pops of colour like the hot pink Totally Fetch–I can’t wait to try using that shade!

The new Limited Edition Essence Dark Romance Velvet Mousse Blush* looks pretty scary red in the pot, but it actually sheers out for a very natural look that helps brighten up the cheeks. It also just seemed so Haloween-appropriate, and the texture is so weird but wonderful.

Fall Beauty Favourites 2

When the weather cools down I love reaching for vanilla scents, and an option I really like (and honestly, I was a little surprised by the fact), is So…? Fragrance Sinful*. There’s also some chocolate and juiciness to the scent, making it a simple but easy to wear perfume.

I think fall is also a great time to go for brows that are a bit darker and more filled in, and I will definitely be using the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow 40 Brown Black* to do that. You squeeze just the tiniest amount out of this tube, and it’s enough to do your entire brows. It also still looks perfect at the end of the day.

To go with my brighter eyes and the red on my cheeks, I like to choose a more neutral lip. Okay, I like to pick a neutral lip regardless of the season, but one of my favourite choices at the moment is the L’Oreal Glossy Balm in Lovely Mocha*. It’s very creamy and glossy on the lips, and a super-flattering rosy brown shade.

Finally, I love some jewel-tone glitter nail polish to add some extra sparkle, and the shade Julep Priscilla is just one of the many ones I own, but it’s a particularly stunning option. Nude and brown shades probably say FALL better, but glitter just makes me happy.

Fall Beauty Favourites 4

Lips, cheeks, brows, eyes, nails and scent– that pretty much covers my favourites for fall beauty (or at least all my favourite makeup bits!) I’m glad I photographed these all at the beginning of the season because I know in 4 months they’ll be looking a lot worse for wear.

What are your fall beauty favourites?

Thank you Zoë, I love the products you showed us! I have that blush too, but I have yet to try it… must do that soon! Also love that perfume, its sweet scent is perfect for the season.

Don’t forget to go follow Zoë’s blog if you’re not already, you won’t be disappointed!
