Want some nail art but don’t like the time it takes to make them? Nail strips are the answer, they’re instant nail art!
I received some OMG Nail Strips to try out, let’s see how these worked out…
This design is called Santa Claws.
They come with 14 strips in 7 different sizes. I had to trim a few sides to fit some of my nails though. I was also hoping to use the 3rd strip on my thumbs (the one with Santa’s sleigh), but because I keep my nails short I would’ve had to cut off Santa and his reindeers. So I chose the snowman instead.
The instructions are quite simple. I skipped step 1 cause I had prepared my nails the night before. I also skipped step 6, just because.
And voilà, instant nail art!
The strips were really easy to apply and fit my nails very well, even though I had to trim a few. There was a bit of wrinkling here and there, but it was very minimal.
Unfortunately they did not work out for me. That same night, about 2 hours after putting on the strips, I lost the strip on my right pinky while washing my face. I don’t even know how it happened and couldn’t find the strip (I found it a few days later, it was stuck at the bottom of my face wash bottle).
Then the next night, 24 hours later, I took my shower and when I came out all the strips had bunched up at the tips. I really don’t know why cause I don’t scratch myself or use my nails in the shower. This is what my right hand looked like afterwards:
Maybe it’s just me and I did something wrong because Sarah from Workaday Ramblings had them on for several days and Kalyn from Kalyn Lord got a good three days’ wear. Kalyn also mentioned a “secret hidden step” which is once you have pressed the sticker down against your nail wall and have filed off the excess, dip a cotton swab in polish remover and run it over the entire nail. This will ‘melt’ the design into your nail a bit — and once that is dry, add a coat of clear coat. I received 2 patterns to try out so I will definitely try that trick with the other strips. I’ll keep you posted on the wear of those ones. They have ladybugs on them so it might be more close to spring by the time I try them.
It’s really too bad that these didn’t last longer because I quite enjoyed the design.
Have you tried OMG Nail Strips? Did you have a better experience than I did?
