I was sent the Aveeno Fresh Essentials face care products to try out and being a huge fan of their Daily Moisturizing Lotion (it’s my #1 body lotion) I was excited to try some of their other products. Keep on reading to find out how these worked out for me…
I’ll talk about the scent first since they all smell the same. They have a floral scent in a rich creamy kind of way. At first I found it strong and perfumy, but after using the products for a few days the scent grew on me and I quite enjoyed it.
Aveeno Fresh Essentials Daily Exfoliating Scrub
A daily exfoliating scrub? Yes please! Unfortunately this one did not meet my expectations. The scrubbing particles are so tiny that I almost didn’t feel them. I guess if you have very sensitive skin this would be perfect for you, but for me I found it so mild that I would just consider it a regular cleanser. I had to use another exfoliating scrub every 2-3 days while using this one because it didn’t scrub enough for me.
I had a really hard time squeezing the cleanser out of the tube, I was really using every ounce of strength that I had, and after 3 days of using it it just wouldn’t come out anymore. I tried to unscrew the cap, but it wouldn’t come off so I cut open the tube and stored it in a ziploc bag. But then one night it fell over and I only noticed it the next morning.
I stopped using it at this point cause it just got messy. I also took a closer look and I could see some bigger bits in the cleanser (the coconut pulps), which is what I’m guessing plugged it up cause they’re as big, if not bigger, than the hole that the product comes out of. Sarah from Workaday Ramblings also had clogging issues (read her review) so it wasn’t just me.
Aveeno Fresh Essentials Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
I love using moisturizers with SPF because you can never have too much protection against the sun. This one is non-oily, but I still found it greasy and when I rinsed my hands after putting it on it almost felt like I just put on sunscreen – it had that same kind of greasiness to it. It didn’t leave my face looking like an oil slick though, it absorbed well, but was still a bit greasy.
It does have a very creamy look, doesn’t it?
Aveeno Fresh Essentials Hydrating Night Cream
This night cream was nice. It wasn’t as heavy as I was expecting it to be, which was nice for my skin type. You could always add a second layer if you have dry skin and need more hydration.
This was my favourite product out of the three, but it still wasn’t a wow product for me. It was good, but not great.
Unfortunately these products did not work out for me. I feel like they’re suited for dry and normal skin that is sensitive. I have combination skin that is sensitive in the sense that it gets red easily, but it’s not sensitive in the sense that it hurts easily (I like to scrub daily).
I did really like the scent though, but that’s not a good enough reason to keep using these.
Have you tried these Aveeno Fresh Essentials products? Did they work out for you?
