Welcome back to another day of the October Nail Art Challenge! I combined days 4 and 5 together because I wanted to keep my nail art from day 3 for an extra day, so today I’m showing you something abstract/geo and orange.
I received some nail vinyls from Glam My Mani to try out and since these ones are in a chevron pattern I figured they would be great for the abstract/geo theme.
The vinyls are really long so I cut mine in half (you’ll see that below later) and the size was perfect for the width of my fingers.
To creat this nail art I used the following products:
- Fantasy Makers “Ghouls Rush In”
- Sinful Colors “Black on Black”
- essence gel top coat
- Striping tape in metallic purple
- Glam My Mani “Chevron” Nail Vinyls (which I cut in half)
I started off with two coats of Fantasy Makers “Ghouls Rush In” as my base colour, then sealed it in with a thin layer of essence gel top coat. I waited for that to dry, then I applied 2 chevron nail vinyls per finger, with a gap between them where I applied Sinful Colors “Black on Black”. I then removed the vinyls while the black nail polish was still wet. I followed that with a striping tape on both sides of the chevron pattern, and again sealed it all in with a nice thick layer of essence gel top coat. I recently discovered that the essence gel top coat does NOT create streaks on nail art – as long as you apply a REALLY thick layer. So happy I found a top coat that works over nail art! 😀
I have to say that creating the chevron pattern was a lot easier than I expected. I have some crafting tweezers that I use to help me position things on my nails, and the vinyls are really easy to work with. Putting the striping tape straight and equal was a lot harder than doing the chevrons.
Once I was done and looked at my nails I realized they kind of look like Halloween themed Easter eggs, lol! I’ll have to remember this design once Easter comes around. I’m still really happy with how these turned out!
Come back tomorrow to see what I’ll do as my gradient for day 6!
