HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I can’t believe that 2015 is already over! Let’s take a look at what happened back in 2015, and after that I’ll talk about my plans for 2016.
2015 – A Year In Review
What I Had Planned for 2015
Last year I did a post like this too and I mentioned a few things I had planned for 2015. I didn’t quite do what I had planned, but at the same time I didn’t not do it either – if that makes any sense! 🙂 I didn’t do as many makeup, tea, and crafting posts as I thought I would, but I still did a few. It’s okay, things happen and it’s all good. 🙂
That’s right, Chantal’s Corner turned two in 2015! I had planned on doing a giveaway, but I really haven’t been organized since giving birth in 2014 so the date came and went and the giveaway never happened. I will make it up this year, I have a few things planned for my 3rd blogiversary. 🙂
Switching to WordPress
The biggest thing to happen to the blog last year was definitely switching my blogging platform from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress. I’ve been extremely happy with the switch and love how easy it is to fine-tune things in WP as opposed to Blogger. There is a cost involved since I have to pay a hosting company, and I also bought my theme, but it’s all worth it!
Webmaster for the CBB
Back in 2014 I helped create and launch the Canadian Beauty Bloggers and I’m SO happy with what we have achieved so far. In 2015 I took over the role of Webmaster – since I’m a web applications developer by day it was just fitting that I take on the role. I’m loving it, and if you ever notice issues with the site you can complain to me. 🙂
A Few Stats
I always like to see what posts of mine are the most popular, so let’s see what topped the charts last year…
Top 3 posts posted in 2015
|Loose Button Luxe Box: Summer 2015 Limited Editions||364|
|[CLOSED] I Love… Giveaway! (Canada)||329|
|[CLOSED] Giveaway: Win a Montagne Jeunesse Pamper Pack! (Canada)||294|
Ahh giveaways, always so popular! 🙂
Top 3 posts viewed in 2015
(but not necessarily posted in 2015)
|Royal Gold “Radiant Foundation” in colour 21 – Review||1707|
|Etude House “Wonder Pore Whipping Foaming” and “Wonder Pore Freshner” – Review||1226|
|essie “sugar daddy” nail polish – swatches and review||667|
Interesting fact is that those three posts are all from 2014, and the top two were tops in 2014 too!
I use Google Analytics to track my traffic (have been since mid 2014) and it has a section where you can see what keywords people used to find your blog. Some can be quite funny, and some are really odd, so I thought I’d list a few for you to see, and maybe have a chuckle. 🙂
- 2 eyes opening and closing – hey, my eyes do that! 😛
- beat with a shovel the weak google spots addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ilovevitaly/ – I think this is spam
- can i wax my legs at home – yes you can
- chantal i love you – aww I love you too! 😀
- ghost spam is free from the politics, we dancing like a paralytics – I think this is more spam
- how does a pregnant taste look like – say what???
- stars that only use lancome – beats me
- what is pout in washroom – I don’t know.
- where to buy chantal’s fruit cake – I wish I knew! 😉
What I Plan For 2016
I don’t see things changing that much this coming year because I love my blog the way it is, but there are a few things that I want to work on…
Frequency Of Posts
I talked about this last year, and it’s back this year. I find the blog can take over my life at times and I let things slip by, like “me” time, house chores, etc. So this year I won’t stress if I don’t have a post ready and it’s been a few days and I still don’t have time to sit down and write one. As much as I love my blog, I need to take back control of my life and find a balance between it all. My sweet spot is one post every three days, but it won’t always happen and that’s ok.
I love my channel and wish I could do more videos, but I don’t have a good indoor setup and that’s an issue. I’m working on something and hope it will work because I have ideas for new video series I want to do, and I have yet to unbox my FabFitFun box that I received two (or three?) weeks ago!
The Mommy Files
When I was pregnant I had my Pregnancy Diaries series, and after giving birth I had planned on doing The Mommy Files series, but I only wrote one post and that was it. This year I plan on resurrecting that series and share my experiences – at least as much as I can remember from the early days – and things going forward (potty training is coming up this year…).
Other than that I hope to do, once again, more tea and crafting posts. Makeup will be here and there – I’ve started doing a major purge of all my beauty products. I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed with all the products I have for quite a while and during my Christmas vacation I started purging. I may do a post of my final results once I’m done (this is one of those things I need more “me” time to do).
One thing you can always count on is nail polish and nail art – yeah baby! 😀
Be More Organized
I have a feeling this one is on many people’s list, and for a variety of different aspects too. For me it’s mostly for the blog. I got an 8×12 calendar where I can write things down and see what’s been done and what’s coming up. This is a good start, baby steps. 🙂
This one is not blog related, but I thought I’d add it in cause I may post about it (as part of The Mommy Files) and it makes me more accountable. I’ve been slacking on getting back my pre-baby weight, and although I don’t have that much far to go, I’m still not there. I was doing well in December with working out, but then Christmas vacation happened and I stopped and ate like a pig and now I feel disgusting. Tomorrow I’m getting back on track.
And that’s it! All very do-able plans.
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you who stop by and read what I have to say! When I started my blog I had no clue where it would go or how it would grow and I’m extremely happy with what it has become. And it’s all thanks to YOU! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
