Happy Valentine’s Day!
Got any special plans today? We don’t celebrate; our anniversary of being together was on the 11th so we celebrate that instead. That being said, I love any occasion to make some nail art!
Sometimes when you think up of some nail art to do it looks awesome in your head, but doesn’t quite translate to your nails. That was the case with me this time…
Ever since I received this 15Pcs Nail Art Design Brush Set ($5.67 USD) from Lady Queen I’ve been wanting to do a brushed nail art with a big fan brush. There are two that come in this set – the white fan brush feels thinner and the bristles are softer than the orange one.
For this nail art I used all of the following products:
- with shyan – Dr.001 (base coat)
- Sally Hansen – Xtreme Wear in White On
- Etude House – Color Pop in Cool Mint Pop
- Kit – Spring Awakening (purple)
- Joe Fresh – Pink
- essence – destination sunshine (yellow)
- China Glaze – Fairy Dust
- butter LONDON – Hardwear P.D. Quick Topcoat
- Cuticula – Scented Liquid Nail Tape
- Lady Queen – Nail Art Fan Brush
- Heart shaped hole punch
- Masking tape
After applying my base coat I added two coats of White On on all nails. I then immediately added a coat of topcoat on my ring finger. Since I was using tape on that one for the nail art it needed to dry fast. At this point I added some liquid nail tape on all nails because I knew that the next step could get messy (and it did a bit). I then dipped the fan brush in the various colours (one by one and cleaned with acetone between colours) to create brush strokes on all nails (except my ring finger). I started with Cool Mint Pop on both sides of the nails, then Spring Awakening on one side of the nail and Pink on the other, then added destination sunshine in the middle. I then topped it all with Fairy Dust and finished with a layer of topcoat.
For my ring finger I punched the masking tape with the hole punch and applied that to the middle of my nail. I then followed the same steps I mentioned above, but just within the heart shaped hole. And then I finished with Fairy Dust and topcoat. But this is where my nail art failed me because you can barely see the heart, the colours were too light for that. From up close you can make it out, but in real life it’s not noticeable – at all. 🙁
That being said, I’m extremely happy with how the rest of the nails turned out! I love the effect and will definitely do this again with different colour combos.
