Hi everyone!
I hope you’re doing well. The flu finally left the house about a week ago, but I’m having a hard time getting my energy back, hence the lack of posts lately. 🙁
I’m always late on trying the latest makeup trends and one I had yet to try was matte lipsticks. Crazy, right?!? I’ve been really wanting to try them lately, but I’m currently on a no-buy so that was not happening. However, two weeks ago I decided to buy myself a little Mother’s Day gift and I purchased the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Tea and Cookies. I FINALLY HAVE ONE! 😀
It has a doefoot applicator that is slightly slanted (as seen in the picture above).
Tea and Cookies is described as a muted tea rose pink.
Ok so this is not a true matte finish; it’s a suede finish (as the name says). You can see in my swatch above that it’s still somewhat shiny, but you’ll see below that on the lips it’s not as shiny and just has a nice healthy look to it. I think so anyway. 🙂
I find that on me it’s kind of a muted bright pink and I love it!
What works best for me when using this lipstick is lightly moisturising my lips first either with a very tiny coat of lipbalm or a lip primer. It will last for hours through light drinking and snacking – as long as the drink or food doesn’t touch my lips too much. I can make it to lunch withough reapplying, but after eating I need to reapply again. It will transfer though; my water bottle always has my lips imprinted on it, lol!
I haven’t had dry lip issues lately so I don’t know if this would cling to dry patches. I do exfoliate and moisturize my lips before bed every night to keep them soft and smooth so that definitely helps.
When I headed out to Shoppers to buy my gift from me to me 🙂 I had no clue which product I would buy, but I have to say that I’m super happy with my purchase and now I want MORE!
Which matte lipsticks have you tried and recommend? I’m eyeing other colours from this line (like Sway, a lavender, and Vintage, a dark plum with mauve), but I also want to try more brands, obviously! 😉
