Hask Charcoal with Citrus Oil Hair Care Products Review

Hi everyone!

Now that I have short hair I use pomades and dry wax and such to style my hair so I end up with quite a gunky mess up there. Add in my natural oily scalp and it feels quite yucky in the morning. So I was really happy to receive the Hask Charcoal with Citrus Oil products to try out because they are meant to purify and give a deep cleanse to your tresses. Let’s see how they are…

Hask Charcoal with Citrus Oil Hair Care Products

Hair weighing you down? It’s time for a detox! Introducing HASK Purifying Charcoal Collection – a complete line that features a Shampoo, Conditioner, and Deep Conditioner that are formulated to give you a deep clean and bring hair back to life.

For an extra boost of radiance, HASK purifying charcoal combined with vitamin C-rich lemon and grapefruit oils, invigorates and clarifies hair without stripping away any moisture. (source)

Sound exactly like what I need!

All of these are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol and artificial colors. They’re also safe for color-treated hair.

They all smells the same: a nice soft citrus scent that is not overpowering. I find it refreshing in the morning and it puts me in a good mood.

Purifying Shampoo

This shampoo lathers really well for not having sulfates in it. It cleanses really well too, and I mean really well! My hair feels squeaky clean once I rinse it out, literally. I have a feeling that this shampoo would really tangle long hair based on how it makes my hair feel.

Purifying Conditioner

This one adds softness to my hair. Not that the shampoo strips it of softness, but you know how adding conditioner feels, right? It just makes your hair softer. Based on how my hair feels once I rinse it out I don’t think this would weigh down long hair. I can’t tell if it would be a good detangler or not though.

Purifying Deep Conditioner

This deep conditioner is super moisturizing and is meant to be used 1-2 times a week. You leave it in for 10 minutes then rinse well.

With my short hair I really don’t notice any difference from using this deep conditioner, my hair is just too short to tell. Once I rinse it out, my hair feels the same as when I use the regular conditioner.

Final Thoughts

The shampoo and conditioner do a great job at really deep cleansing my hair and leaving it feeling soft. They are both gentle enough to be used daily which I do, but if you wanted to you could save them for a once a week deep cleanse too (if you don’t gunk your hair on a daily basis like I do). I’m sure the deep conditioner works great for people with long hair, but my hair is just too short for me to feel a difference.

  • Ooh, the charcoal in these is very interesting! Love that they’re sulfate- and cruelty-free too. I’ll have to give this brand a peek!

    • This was my first time trying their products and I really like it! They’re sold at a lot of places – Walmart seems to be the least expensive from the quick search I did.

  • I saw this in the grocery store a few weeks ago and was so intrigued! I love charcoal on my face, so I’m super intrigued. Sounds like it’d be an awesome clarifying set – and I love that it’s sulfate and cruelty-free!

  • This looks interesting to me, I always struggle with my hair after using dry shampoo for a day or two. This could be a great option for me.
