My search for a natural body wash brought me to many brands and products, but the one that caught my attention the most was Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap. They have many scents of this soap and almond is the one that appealed the most to me. Let’s see how it’s been working out…

Those are straight-forward ingredients, wouldn’t you agree?!?
Natural Almond Fragrance
Warm, comforting and slightly sweet & like marzipan or amaretto!
The scent of this soap comes from the Natural Almond Fragrance they put in and it smells absolutely wonderful! If you love that sweet almond scent then you’ll love this soap.
18-in-1: 1 product for 18 uses!
I didn’t realize you could do so many things with this soap! They list a few on the bottle and you can visit their website for the rest of the uses.
Of course I had to put a few of those to the test, here are my thoughts…
Face: I have only tried this in the morning so I don’t know how it would do with removing makeup. I’ve used this in the shower and although it leaves my face a bit tight, it’s not as tight as it usually feels with foaming cleansers. If you have acne, they have a Tea Tree soap that would be perfect for the face.
Body: This is the main use I bought it for and use it every single time I shower. I absolutely love it! You really don’t need a lot to get a good lather going and it cleans very well. It leaves your body feeling squeaky clean.
Hair: It works really well at removing all the gunk from my hair. Based on the way it makes my hair feel I have a feeling that it would leave long hair quite tangled, but that’s just a guess. They recommend following up with an acidic conditioner such as their Citrus Hair Rinse or apple cider vinegar to balance the pH of the soap.
Teeth: It works! I didn’t find that it tasted all that soapy and it cleaned my teeth really well. Obviously it didn’t leave a minty fresh feeling being almond flavour so I think the Peppermint soap would be best as a toothpaste. But if I’m ever in a pinch then this will definitely do.
Ant Spray: We tend to have an ant problem every summer so if it happens again this year I definitely want to try this (with the Tea Tree soap).
And that’s all I’ve tried so far, except for the last one. I really wanted to try it as a laundry soap for my sheets, but I’m just hesitant cause it’s not made specifically for HE washers.
I do have one issue with this soap and that is the lack of a pump. I find I pour too much out when I tilt the bottle over. I was planning on buying a pump, but as I was reading through the comments on the Dilutions Cheat Sheet I read this:
Unfortunately, our liquid Pure Castile soaps do not work well in a traditional pump dispenser. The water content that keeps the soap liquid will eventually evaporate in the pump, leaving solid soap behind which will clog the pump. Before it clogs the pump completely, the partial clog will cause soap to squirt out in unexpected directions and generally make a mess. Instead, we formulated our Organic Pump Soaps (with moisturizing Shikakai extract) that work great in traditional pumps.
As mentioned earlier I bought this soap to use as my body wash and it’s perfect, I love it! Now I’d like to try some of the other scents too. I think the Citrus would be a nice wake-me-up scent for my morning showers. And I’ll get the Tea Tree soap if the ants decide to show up again this year. I may get that one anyway to help with my body acne for the summer (do you ever grow out of that?!?).
If you’re looking for an all-in-one soap to take on a trip then this is it! I bought this one on Well.ca on sale for $17.59 CAD (reg $21.99). If you’re a first-time buyer on Well.ca you can save $10 on your order of $40 or more with my code below.
