Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

This is not what I had in mind for my St. Patrick’s Day nail art, but this is what it ended up being, so that’s what it is. 🙂

Here is what I used for this, including how many coats:

  1. OPI Nail Envy x1 (base coat)
  2. OPI Alpine Snow x3
  3. Nubar Diamont top coat x1
  4. China Glaze Running in Circles sponged on
  5. Nubar Diamont top coat x2

I thought that Running in Circles was green micro glitters in a clear base, but it’s in a green base. My plan was to do a green glitter gradient at the cuticles, but because of the green base it did not work as well, so I just went with it and this is the result.

I was also going to freehand a clover on my ring finger, but the green base threw me off guard and I completely forgot about it, oops! I still like them even though it’s not what I had in mind.

I added the green with a makeup sponge, so obviously I had tons on my fingers that needed to be cleaned up. Talk about a cleanup job; the micro glitters were everywhere!!! Actually they still are, my hands are all sparkly. 🙂 My nails are sparkly too, but cameras don’t pick up the sparkle of glitters that well.

Now that I think about it I should have done a full nail with Running in Circles. Oh well, next time. 🙂

  1. I was too sick for a St. Patty's mani BUTTT… Mine would have been: a sheer soft shade just to give the nail a clean look, OPI Jade is the New Black for tips, and sprinkle OPI Man with the Golden gun on the line between the nail and tip.

    I think yours look great though! I am terrified of doing a gradient but I am going to have to do it some day!

      Ooh that would have looked lovely! I still need to get that green.

      This is the first time I tried doing a gradient with a sponge, but since it was not a clear base it did not come out how I expected.

      I love doing glitter gradients, I actually have one in my next post. I usually just do them with the brush, just go thicker at the edge and drag it down the nail. I'll have to try it with a sponge next time, with a glitter mix that I know for sure will work well.

      The first time I did my nails in this shape I had a dark polish on and I shaped them BEFORE removing the polish. Having a colour on your nails really helps in the shaping. After a while you get used to the shape and you can do it on naked nails, but shaping with polish really helps.
