Kerotin ‘Keratin Renewal’ Shampoo & Conditioner – A Review

Over the past few months, I’ve been trying out some hair care products from Kerotin. I have actually finished them so now I’m ready to give you a full review.

When the company reached out to me, I told them that my main concern at the moment is damage repair because my hair is very damaged from the colour treatments I used to get (more specifically a colour correction I had done). Since I’m letting it grow now, I want it to be as healthy as possible so that when I get it trimmed, they cut off as little as possible. To help me with that, they sent me their Keratin Renewal collection.

A Dual Treatment Shampoo & Conditioner Line, formulated with natural key ingredients and oils to repair damage, reduce frizz, and increase moisture.

The very first time I used this shampoo my hair felt SO soft and silky, and I felt that as soon as I was rinsing off the shampoo. It’s not a feeling I’ve had often with shampoos. Not that other shampoos don’t make my hair feel soft and silky, but there’s something different about this one that I’ve only felt with one other product before. It’s something I tried in my teens while showering at a friend’s house, so the memory is 30 years old, but it invoked the same feeling. It was Pert Plus, remember that? Anywho, back to this shampoo. As I said, there’s something different about the silkiness that it leaves in your hair, it’s like a little bit extra than usual. And I love it!

This shampoo cleaned my hair really well. I used the same amount that I usually do with other shampoos and it worked well. If I went a full week without washing my hair (thanks pandemic) then I had to wash it twice, but that’s the same with all shampoos I’ve used before. I have an oily scalp and that much build-up needs two washes. But, if I wash it every three to four days then I’m okay with only one wash.

I enjoyed its scent. I’m not quite sure how to describe it though. It was kind of perfumy and floral-ish, but not strong nor granny-ish. There was a lightness to it. It was nice.

Shampoos work by removing the dirt and excess oil in our hair and scalp. However, most shampoos also remove the moisture with your hair.

Kerotin’s Keratin-infused shampoo rejuvenates damaged, dry, and frizzy hair and helps retain hair’s moisture. It smooths and softens while adding strength to prevent breakage.

Kerotin’s Keratin-infused conditioner closes the hair cuticle, eliminating wires of electricity, acquiring an invisible protective layer that facilitates combing and provides nutrition and shine to the hair when dry.

After washing my hair, it gets really tangled. Especially if I washed it twice. It’s BAD. So I need help; I need a conditioner. This one made my hair feel nice, and it did help with the tangles a little bit, but only a little bit.

It smelled the same as the shampoo and I liked it.

I also love how you can see through these bottles so you know when you’re about to run out. I know other brands do this too, but not all of them. They all should. 😉

Final Thoughts

After my very first wash, once my hair was dry, I noticed that my curls were more defined and bouncier. My hair looked lighter like there was nothing weighing it down. And it looked very nice.

While using these products my hair did feel more tangled (after washing them) than with the products I was using just before them. Then again, those other products weighed my hair down and my curls were not as defined and bouncy. That was a huge difference that I noticed with these Kerotin products. I also BADLY need a trim right now, and once I get one (after COVID vaccines are out), my hair won’t get as tangled anymore.

Since finishing these products I went back to what I was using before, but as mentioned, they weigh my hair down and my curls are rather just waves and quite blah. They also made my scalp greasier. After 2-3 uses, I had to switch to something else. The products I’m using now are definitely better than those other ones, but they don’t make my hair AS silky as the Kerotin products did.

All that to say that I LOVED how the Kerotin products made my hair look and feel. I just started using new products, but I’ll definitely be buying Kerotin in the future. I had to use other products to realize how great my hair felt with the Kerotin products.

If you want to try them you can save 15% off your order with my code CHANTALSCORNER. You can buy these as a combo pack for $49, or individually: shampoo ($28), conditioner ($28).

Have you tried Kerotin products? What do you currently use to wash your hair?
