Absolute! ”Makeup Cleansing Tissue” in Pomegranate – Review

Hey everyone!

Today’s post is about the Absolute! “Makeup Cleansing Tissue” in Pomegranate that I received in my January Ipsy Glam Bag.

I love makeup wipes because sometimes I’m just lazy and don’t want to go through my whole cleansing routine, and on weekends when I don’t go out I don’t wear any makeup so I don’t always feel like doing the big routine either so wipes are perfect for that.

Let’s see how these worked out…

Pre-moistened, refreshingly fragranced, water-based cloths designed to instantly remove even waterproof makeup without irritation. Infused with natural extracts and botanicals, Absolute! Makeup Cleansing Tissues are formulated to reawaken and soften skin, while helping to reduce puffiness. Made of delicate spun lace, our convenient, effortless 1-step tissues are gentle enough for use on sensitive skin and around the eye area.

I’m not familiar with the scent of pomegranate so I can’t say if the smell is accurate or not, but what I can say is that these smell really fruity. It’s actually too fruity – like they dropped the scent bucket onto the wipes. I find it very overwhelming and I’m not a fan of the scent. It does linger for about 30-45 minutes after use too. Not in the way that you smell them all the time, but if you move around you will get some whiffs of it.

These claim to: thoroughly remove eye-liner, shadow, lipstick, blush and even waterproof mascara without skin irritation.

My makeup routine consists of BB Cream all over my face, a little bit of concealer under my eyes, press powder all over to set it, a bit of eyeshadow, and mascara. I use some lip products too, but by the time I wash my face that is always long gone.

So let’s see how it did to remove my makeup…

I started off with one wipe and used all corners of it on both side. Then I took out another wipe to make sure all makeup was gone, and it was not. So I used all of the second one as well. I then took a 3rd sheet just to be sure, and I could still see a little bit of makeup residue on that one. It was very faint, but it was there.

After using the 3 sheets I used my toner since it helps remove whatever makeup got left behind – and it has other benefits for the skin as well. Usually after doing my regular cleaning routine with my Clarisonic, when I put my toner (with a white cotton pad) the cotton is still white once I’m done. But this time there was still some makeup residue that came off on the cotton pad. Not impressed. I almost wanted to take out my Clarisonic and do a proper cleaning, but since I rubbed my face with 3 wipes already I wanted to give it a break.

The are soft and gentle though, I will give them that. They did not irritate my eyes at all.

Bottom Line

I don’t like the scent and these didn’t work well at removing my makeup – at all.

I will use the rest on weekends when I don’t have any makeup on and don’t feel like doing my full cleansing routine, but I won’t be buying more.

These come in 4 other types: cucumber, green tea, vitamin C, and aloe. Maybe some of those don’t smell as strongly, but I won’t try those either because these ones were not good at removing my makeup.

Have you tried these cleansing tissues?
