Hi everyone!
Hair products is one category where I don’t experiment much, and I will admit to being a hair product snob. I don’t buy drugstore products, only salon products. It’s one little way that I spoil myself and I’ve been doing it for 20+ years.
That being said, I heard great things about Maple Holistics so when I had the opportunity to try their products I jumped at the chance! Today I’ll be sharing my experience with their Degrease Shampoo, Silk 18 Conditioner and Assuage Hair Gel.
Maple Holistics has one goal in mind: to provide a natural, holistic range of premium products which can enhance hygiene, health and daily living. (Source)
Degrease Moisture Control Shampoo ($16.95)
What caught my attention with this product is this line from its description: Oily hair feels gross and looks gross. It can lead to acne on your hairline… (source)
I have oily skin all over my body and suffer from acne on my face, chest, neck, and back. 🙁 So this sounded like the perfect shampoo for me.
This does not smell like you’d expect a shampoo to smell. It has rosemary, basil and lemon oils in it and that’s what I find it smells like. With rosemary and basil being very strong, and an after-hint of lemon. I was not expecting that at all, but I was not thrown off by it either.
For a shampoo that is sulfate free it lathers like a mofo! And you really don’t need a lot. It did a great job at washing my hair and didn’t leave it or my scalp feeling dry afterwards.
Silk 18 Conditioner ($30.00 $11.95)
I think this one is currently on sale.
This just sounded like a good conditioner, and is turns out that it is a good one too! It conditions my hair really well and it smells SO GOOD – like warm, rich vanilla. YUM!
Assuage Hair Gel ($22.99 $9.99)
Another one on sale. 🙂
This hair gel has a really soft hold and it’s too soft for when I style my hair – I need a strong hold to hold my curls in place and not get all frizzy. However, it’s great when I put my hair up in a messy bun. I put some at the tips of my hair and the bun does not get all frizzy. I like a messy bun, but not a messy bun! 😉
This hair gel smells citrusy.
I really liked the shampoo and conditioner – they both worked really well. The conditioner was my favourite! The gel though, not so much. I have a feeling I’ll be using it more this summer when I put my hair up more often. But other than that the gel doesn’t work for me.
Have you heard of Maple Holistics before?
– Chantal 🙂
