I love nail art, although I don’t do some as often as I’d love to. Nail stamping is one of my favourite nail art to do so I was really excited to receive the MoYou London Artist Starter Kit ($29.95 CAD) to try out! This is also my first time trying anything from MoYou London and I’ve only heard great things about them so I’m really excited!
The MoYou London Starter Kits (they have multiple) all come with what you need for stamping: a stamping plate, a stamper, a scraper, a stamping polish, and instructions. You provide the rest (base coat, base colour, top coat).
The plate in the Artist Starter Kit is the Artist Collection 04 plate which is a full plate design made up of various smaller designs. The plate has a blue film protector that you remove before you start using it.
Since the kit I received has a yellow stamping polish I wanted to put it to the ultimate test and try it over a black polish. I used Ceramic Glaze “Little Black Dress” as my base colour and stamped with the MoYou London “Banana Ice” stamping polish that came with the kit.
If you have liquid nail tape or liquid latex, or even just tape, please cover your fingers to minimize the cleanup. I was too excited to try my kit that I completely forgot to use my liquid nail tape. If you follow me on Snapchat (@chantalscorner – hint hint! 😉 ) you’ve seen this already…
Once I was done cleaning up my mess I added a layer of my oh so loved China Glaze “Fairy Dust” then I finished it off with a generous layer of top coat, and voilà!
I have to say that I’m really impressed with the opacity of Banana Ice stamped over a black polish. Light and pastel coloured creme polishes tend to have bad formulas; they’re often streaky and patchy and require three coats for full opacity.
If you’re looking for a good yellow polish I strongly recommend buying this one. I have not tried it on its own yet, but I’m sure it would be a one or a two coater.
I definitely need more MoYou London in my stamping collection – both in stamping plates and polishes! You can get MoYou London at Trade Secrets, they’re the only retailer that carries them in Canada. They have a bunch of stamping plates, stamping kits, polishes, and even and and feet tattoos!
Have you tried products from MoYou London?
