Discovering new brands is one of the things I love about blogging. There are so many brands that exist, and so many that I would not know about if it was not for this blog. Bonus points if they’re Canadian, and extra bonus points if they’re an Indie brand. With that being said, let me introduce you to a Canadian Indie brand called Midnight Hour Beauty. I received a bunch of products to try out and will tell you all about them today.

Midnight Hour Beauty was created by Sarah King and she has products for lips and a beard balm.

Lip Balms
Sarah currently has two types of lip balms: her original formula and her new formula. Her new formula has more of a shea butter base rather than coconut oil so it will be more stable in warmer weather. Her original formula will be on clearance starting February 27th, 2017, and will go until March 31st, 2017, or until sold out. Her new formula will be available as of April 1st, 2017.
Sarah sent me one of each formula so I could compare them.

I received the Peppermint flavour of her original formula. This one feels very soft on my lips when applying it and it moisturizes really well. Because of the peppermint oil in it, it gives that cooling feeling to your lips which I really like. I keep this one next to my bed and apply it every night before going to sleep.
For the new formula, I received the flavour Cherry Vanilla which is absolutely wonderful! I can feel a difference between this one and the old formula; this one feels a bit harder, but it’s not hard at all (it just is compared to the other one). This one is also very moisturizing and works really well for me. I keep this one in the washroom and use it after I’ve washed my face or brushed my teeth, or whenever I’m in the washroom and want some lip balm.
Both formulas feel wonderful and work really well for me. If you need a new lip balm I strong recommend these.
In case you want to know which flavours are all natural and which ones are not, here is the full list. The asterisk (*) indicates new flavours to be released April 1st, 2017.
Natural flavour:
– Peppermint
– Cherry Vanilla
– Blue Raspberry
Natural/artificial blend:
– Bubblegum
– Pina Colada
– Strawberry
– Peach*
– Green Tea*
Artificial flavour:
– Watermelon
Lipsticks
Sarah has a collection of lipsticks called Sins.

Her first colour, released in May 2016, is called Sloth ($8) and is a beautiful rosy pink.
Sloth is a rosey shade of pink that flatters every skin tone. It’s the perfect lipstick for those days when you want that “no makeup” look with little effort.
On me, this colour is an MLBB shade that adds an extra touch of pink to my pout. I absolutely love it! I’ve been reaching for this one daily whether I’m wearing makeup or not. On no makeup days I just do a quick swipe to moisturize and add a touch of colour, and on makeup days I apply it more liberally reaching my lip line all around and making sure that my lips are all well covered by it.

Sarah recently reformulated Sloth to add some peppermint oil in it so it feels refreshing when you apply it on your lips, I love it!
Her second colour, Greed, will be released on February 27th, 2017. Greed is a beautiful sheer gold shimmer with gold iridescence that you can wear alone or over another shade. This one does not have peppermint oil in it (I just thought I’d mention it).
Here it is by itself.

I added Greed over Sloth and it gives a beautiful coral tone.

Here is a side by side comparison so you can see the difference that adding Greed over Sloth gives. It’s not drastic, but the difference is there if you want more of a coral shade.

These lipsticks are very moisturizing and feel great on the lips. Think of them as pigmented lip balms because that is exactly how they feel! That being said, their longevity is more that of a lip balm than a lipstick. But with these shades, you don’t need a mirror to apply them so reapply as you wish, wherever you are.
Exclusive Lip Tint
Sarah created an exclusive lip tint called The Art of Misdirection available only through the #CrellyCrate ReVamped box (more info on that below).

…an exclusive lip color inspired by Casino Royale. Be the next Bond girl when wearing “The Art of Misdirection,” an ultra hydrating rose pink lip tint that’s packed with iridescent gold shimmer.
I find this colour to be more of an orange/coral, especially when compared to Sloth, but it’s still a beautiful shade and is perfect for the coming spring! The sparkles are very fine and do not leave a gritty feeling on my lips.

More information on the #CrellyCrate ReVamped box:
Polish ReVamped x Crazy 4 Crellies: #crellycrate ReVamped presents Smoke & Mirrors.
This first ever two group, seven maker collaboration box will bring you 7 full-sized products for one reasonable price (plus shipping) in March. This box is exclusive to the groups Polish Revamped and Crazy 4 Crellies, so you must be a member to purchase!
All-Natural Sugar Lip Scrub
To keep your lips feeling their softest, Sarah created an All-Natural Sugar Lip Scrub ($6).

Exfoliate and hydrate lips in one easy step. The all-natural formula is completely safe to consume, so you don’t even need to rinse the scrub off after use – just lick your lips clean!
The cane sugar works well at exfoliating my lips and the oils leave them feeling smooth and hydrated. It even tastes good! I don’t lick it ALL off, but I do eat a few pieces of sugar – I just can’t help myself. 😉
The lip scrub does not currently fit in a lettermail, which is how she ships all her other items (you save on shipping – $2 flat rate), so it does cost more to ship. But as of April 1st it will be packaged in a new container that will fit in a lettermail.
Final Thoughts
You must have noticed by now that I love these products! They all feel wonderful on the lips and they’re all very moisturizing.
Check out Sarah’s shop and make your lips happy! 😉

Love the sound of this lip scrub! And the lip balms are gorgeous as well 🙂 The greed over sloth is such a beautiful mix of colour. Still light and natural as well! If there’s anything that should be made out of natural ingredients, it is definitely lip products!
I agree that lip products should be all natural. It’s the one place where you KNOW it gets into your body and through your digestive system.
I’ve really been loving all of these products, Sarah did a great job with them.
