This February I’m doing a sheet mask per day along with Jayne (Cosmetic Proof) and Renee (See the World in PINK). I can’t believe that the month is almost over! In this post I’ll be talking about the masks I used during week 3 for which the theme was FLOWER. I only had one mask that was flower-based so for the rest I tried to keep it within theme in some way or another. Let’s take a look at the masks that I tried…
Day 15: THEFACESHOP Real Nature Mask Sheet in Lily
This is the only mask that I currently have in my stash that is flower-themed. It has a pleasant floral scent and it’s not too strong. It has slits all around the mask to help it fit better. Once again, I cut the piece between the eyes and cut a little piece off of the bottom to fill the gap between the eyes. The area around my chin doesn’t seem to want to stick well even though there are three slits at the chin area. Otherwise, the fit is good. The nose flap is long enough that it’s reaching into my nostrils, lol!

I kept the mask on for 15 minutes. Once removed, I massaged the essence for a couple of minutes and it fully sunk in. My face was just a little bit tacky so I proceeded right away with the rest of my evening face care routine.

Day 16: Missha Airy Fit Sheet Mask in Aloe
This mask is plant-based. Plants and flowers are close enough for me. 😛
This mask has no scent, I really cannot detect anything. I think this is the thinnest mask I have ever tried. Some others were really close to this, but this one is definitely the thinnest. There are no slits around the mask though which it would greatly benefit from. But it still fits well. It’s just so drenched that it makes it stick well to the face. It’s even dripping! The mask doesn’t wrap under my chin at all (it’s that short), and once in a while I have to pass my finger over my chin to wring out the accumulated solution. I cut some slits on the sides of the eyes so that the mask stuck better in that area.

I kept the mask on for 20 minutes. I then massaged in the solution and within a few minutes, it was fully absorbed. My face did not feel tacky but I could tell that it had some kind of lotion on it. I still went ahead with the rest of my evening skincare routine.

Day 17: Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask in Coconut
Coconut trees have flowers, mm-kay?! 😉
I was hoping that this mask would smell like coconut, but it does not. It actually has a bit of a funky smell to it. I double checked the expiry date and it’s September 2020, so that’s not it. Oh well. This mask is a cream mask (with a white solution). The material is nice and soft. There are a few slits that help the mask conform better to the face. It is not very long under the chin and kind of gives me a semi mask goatee (more on the sides than in the middle). Otherwise, the fit is relatively good after the tweaks I made to it: I cut between the eyes again and cut off a piece from the side to fill the gap between the eyes.

While wearing the mask I would get whiffs of coconut here and there, but that was it. I kept the mask on for 20 minutes. I then massaged in the cream for a few minutes, but there was just too much and it wasn’t fully absorbing so I let the rest absorb by itself. I had a blogger fail moment and forgot to take notes on how my face felt at bedtime and if I applied the rest of my skincare routine. Oops!

Day 18: Papa Recipe Bombee Ginseng Red Honey Oil Mask Pack
Bees need flowers to make honey. 😀
This mask has a very interesting scent. There is a honey sweetness to it, but there’s also something else that I can’t quite put my finger on. The scent also reminds me of something, but I just can’t remember what. It smells familiar. I really enjoyed it, but I think that it could be too strong for people with scent sensitivities. The mask material has some fibres woven into it and it’s interesting to look at. The fit is okay, but after a few tweaks, it definitely fits better. It seems that my main thing with masks now is to cut the area between the eyes and then cut an additional piece to fill in the newly created gap. The fit around the mouth is a bit small, but I do prefer to have it cover more skin as opposed to less skin. There is also a bit of bunching going on around the mouth and chin.

I kept the mask on for 30 minutes. By then the mask was getting dry in some areas, but there was still a little bit of solution left on my face. It took less than a minute to fully massage it in. I then followed immediately with my evening skincare routine.

Day 19: TONYMOLY Fresh To Go Mask Sheet in Aloe

This mask has a very fresh scent that I do enjoy, but it could be a little bit on the strong side for people with scent sensitivities. The fit is actually quite good; once again I cut between the eyes because that gives me a better fit on the top of the nose and I filled in the gap with a piece that I cut from the side where it was going too far into my hairline. The holes for the eyes are a little bit small but I like that it covers the fine lines underneath my eyes. And the hole for the mouth is too small again, but that seems to be common with most of the face masks that I’ve tried and it doesn’t bother me. The nose flap is actually a good length and covers almost all of the tip of my nose. The chin area is not that long and does not wrap underneath, but it did not give me a masque goatee either. This mask was drenched in essence and was dripping a little bit when I took it out of the packet, but it is not dripping down my face. It is extremely wet, but just enough not to drip, and perfect to keep the mask sticking to my face.

I kept this mask on for 20 minutes. I massaged in the solution but there was too much so I stopped after a few minutes to let the rest absorb by itself. I was planning to apply the rest of my evening skincare routine before going to bed, about an hour later, but I completely forgot and only remembered when I was just about to fall asleep. So I quickly touched my face to see how it felt and it was no longer tacky.

Day 20: Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack
Flowers -> bees, buzz buzz.
This mask smells absolutely nothing. The fit is rather odd; the eye holes are a bit too big for my liking and they have weird flaps underneath them. The hole for the nose is also a little bit too big, as is the mouth. It goes well on my forehead, but a bit too much into my hairline so I folded that over. It has slits around the chin area to make it fit better, and I cut off a little piece to cover the gap between the eyes because, cutting tweak again. I did not get a mask goatee with this one.

I let it sit for about 5 minutes and the tackiness went down considerably. It was barely tacky anymore, so I proceed with the rest of my evening skincare routine.

Day 21: FLOWER Beauty Power Up! Sheet Mask Radiance Boosting
I’m ending the week with a brand named the same as our theme.
This masks actually smells quite perfumy. It also almost reminds me of a perfume I used to wear when I was younger, but I can’t figure out which one. I don’t find it overwhelming, but it could be a bit strong for people with scent sensitivities. After a few tweaks, the fit is actually really good. I did my usual cut between the eyes and I also cut some slits next to both ears to help that area fit better. I do not like it when the mask covers my hairline so I fold it back. By adding a slit just below the hairline helps it fold without affecting the fit on the cheek area. This masks actually feels tight on the face, like if it’s holding it together. As I’m dictating my notes on the mask into my phone, the mask is not slipping and sliding under the movements of my mouth. It actually feels like my movements are restrained a little bit by the mask. It is not unpleasant by any means; I actually quite like it.

I kept this mask on for 15 minutes. This is the first time that I did not want to remove a mask; the snugness of the mask was just really comfortable. I massaged in the remaining solution and after a few minutes, it was fully absorbed and a little bit tacky. I let my face rest for about half an hour and after that, the tackiness was very little so I applied the rest of my evening face care routine. I noticed that my face looked a bit darker than my neck, almost like it got tanned a little bit. I was not expecting that at all, but I guess that’s what they meant by “Radiance Boosting”.

Final Thoughts
Cutting between the eyes seems to be a go-to for me now. It makes most masks fit so much better!
My least favourite mask of the week was the Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack mask. There were just too many things about the fit that I didn’t like. And I wasn’t a fan of the Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask in Coconut because of its scent. Do they smell all like that or did I have a dud? Not sure if we’ll ever find out.
My top two masks were the Missha Airy Fit Sheet Mask in Aloe and the FLOWER Beauty Power Up! Sheet Mask Radiance Boosting mask. Both because of how they fit. The “glow” that the FLOWER Beauty mask gave me was unexpected, but it grew on me. I also want to try more from Papa Recipe‘s honey line. And the TONYMOLY Fresh To Go Mask Sheet in Aloe mask was good too!
