Hi everyone!
I have another essence nail polish to share with you today since we’re in the essence featured brand month with the Canadian Beauty Bloggers. It’s not like I need a theme to share a nail polish from essence since they’re one of my favourite brands, but I sometimes get distracted by all the untried nail polishes that I have and themes help keep me focused.
This nail polish is part of the new the gel line and is called play with my mint. It’s the first nail polish I try from the new line, let’s see what I think about it…
They kept the same brush which I LOVE! It’s wide and thin and tapered at the end so you can cover your entire nail with only two strokes, and just one on the pinky!
play with my mint is a beautiful mint crème colour. I found the formula a bit patchy though and required three coats for full opacity, and at that point it looked uneven so I added a topcoat to even things out. These pictures are all with three coats plus a topcoat.
The nail polish was this shiny on its own, but like I said the finish looked very uneven so it took away from the beauty of the shine. The topcoat really made this beauty shine, and not just literally. π
This is not the type of formula quality I expect from essence, but I find this kind of shade tends to be a hit and miss when it comes to formula because it’s starting to get on the lighter side where a lot of formulas run thin and patchy. So I’ll need to try more nail polishes from this new line before I make a decision on whether I’m still in love with essence nail polishes or not (honestly I cannot imagine not loving them). I have four more shades that I bought when I saw them in stores last summer so they’ll make an appearance on the blog at some point.
What colours have you tried from the new line/formula? What do you think about it?
