Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp Ultra-Volume Mascara – Review

Hello hello!

Today I have a review of the Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp Ultra-Volume Mascara that I received in my Winter 2013 Loose Button Luxe Box.

I’ve been quite disappointed with all the mascaras I’ve been receiving in my subscription boxes; let’s see how this one does…

Lash-by-lash maxi volume and 12-hour wear.

The creamy texture of Sexy Pulp Lash Plumping Mascara, enriched with Carnauba wax, coats and thickens every single lash without weighing them down. It helps create as much volume as you want without clumping. Your lashes stay supple, never brittle, for a full 12 hours. Finally, a lash plumping mascara for even more voluminous lashes.

The Brush: An innovative maxi-brush with generous curves for a lash plumping result!

The Brush

If you look closely you will see that the brush is hot pink, but of course the black mascara hides that.

Here I am natural, with 1 coat and with 2 coats.

I was really impressed with the oomph I got with just one coat. Two coats adds on even more, but I found it started to get a teeny bit clumpy. I usually only wear one coat anyway and that one didn’t clump so it’s all good.

Wear Test

Now let’s see if I got any raccoon eyes – here I am 5 hours later.

Well, this mascara did not pass the wear test, and this is only 5 hours later – that’s not even a full day at work! And if you look closely at the bottom picture you can see a bit of flaking too (tiny black dots). Double X’s.

Bottom Line

While I really liked the look that this mascara gave with only just one coat, I don’t like the smudging and the flaking that I got after only 5 hours of wear. Plus, since getting pregnant my skin is a lot dryer than before (normal instead of oily) so imagine if I tried this with my regular oily eyelids – I don’t even want to think about it!

Purchase full size? No. I think you saw that one coming. 🙂

This is the travel size at 2.5 mL ($3); the full size (9 mL – $19) is called Sexy Pulp “Lash Plumping” Mascara (as opposed to “Ultra-Volume” Mascara) – but they’re the same product.

Have you tried this mascara?

– Chantal 🙂
