Ipsy Glam Bag: August 2014 – with unboxing video!

Hi everyone!

I received my August Ipsy Glam Bag this week and I had the time to do an unboxing video today, so now I can share what I received with all of you! 🙂

This month’s theme is Beauty Schooled: Learn the rules, so that you can break them. This month, you’ll discover that you’ll never stop learning – especially, when it comes to the world of beauty. With everything from styling skills, application techniques, to channeling your inner confidence and uniqueness… With the help of ipsy and your August Glam Bag, you’re about to get “schooled.”

Let’s see what I’m going to get “schooled” in this month…

Let’s start with my unboxing video! 🙂

$ All prices are in US dollars. $

The Ipsy Bag

This month’s bag is white with orange polka dots and is made of waterproof material. It also has a round shape – as opposed to the flat shape that the bags usually have. It’s the same shape as the one we got in July 2013, but in a different colour/pattern.

Coastal Scents – Forever Blush Sample Duo | 2.5g sample | 8g / $7.95

Coastal Scents Forever Blush boasts 18 perfectly pigmented, powder blushes with a long-lasting rush of color. Complete with a mirror, these color-packed compacts go a long way.

Colours are Fresh (brown) and Elegant (pink).

I just started getting into blushes this summer so these will be nice to try out.

Jersey Shore Sun – Mongongo Lip Conditioner | full size! | $5.50

Slather on this balm for soft lips all year long. Mongongo oil has hydrating, regenerating and restructuring properties and offers a unique protection from UV and environmental pollutants in skin applications. Mongongo oil is rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc, cooper and anti-oxidants.

Jersey Shore Sun® Mongongo Nutrient Dense Lip Conditioners are 100% natural and USDA certified organic. Fresh organic flavors. No petrochemicals. Nothing artificial. No petroleum.

This lip balm felt “thin” when I put it on (in the video), like it would wear off quickly. And even though I did my video about 5 hours ago, I already forgot how long it did last, lol!

UPDATE: See my mini review on this Mongongo lippie in my monthly empties of October 2014.

Klorane – Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk | 1.06 oz sample | 3.2 oz / $19.50

Klorane Dry shampoo with oat milk gently revives hair, ridding it of excess dirt, oil, build-up and odor while leaving hair soft, clean and full of volume.

As I mentioned in the video I don’t straighten my hair very often so I don’t see myself using this product that much.

Lord & Berry – Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil | 0.02 oz sample | 0.05 oz ~$15

Sensual and exotic, that’s the effect that Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil delivers. Just like the traditional Kohl, but with the modern ease and control of a pencil. Giving a semi-matte finish that is also smudgeable, Silk Kajal Kohl’s soft tip is ophthalmologically-tested and gentle enough to be used on the inner eye. Also available in Nudo and White.

The Lord & Berry site is currently down for maintenance so the $15 price is a best guest (because the price seems to vary online depending on where you shop).

A black liner is a must in every makeup bag. Although I do have a couple already, I always like trying new brands.

Urban Decay – Perversion Mascara | 0.1 fl oz sample | 0.4 fl oz / $22

Bigger. Blacker. Badder. Urban Decay’s ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara features triple-black pigments and a deeply nourishing ingredient blend. Perversion Mascara gets you sexy in one stroke, yet it won’t quit until you say when.

I always love trying a new mascara, and who can say no to Urban Decay? 🙂

And that’s what I got this month! The approximate value is $26. It’s not the best month in terms of value, but it’s more than what I pay for it so I can’t complain.

The Ipsy Glam Bag is a monthly subscription that costs $10 in the US and $15 for us Canadians. Each month, subscribers receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

Subscribe now to receive your own Ipsy Glam Bag. (This is my invitation link.)

Have you tried any of these products?

– Chantal 🙂
