I had some nail extensions for a few weeks and after removing them, my nail tips were very weak and breaking easily. So for my last manicure, I wanted to use a nail strengthener instead of doing a regular manicure. While doing some research online on strengthening product I found out that essie has a line called treat love & color which is their first advanced 1-step strength & color in a collection of knockout nail polish shades. This is exactly what I needed, sweet! The store I went to only had a few colours so I grabbed the darkest one they had: on the mauve. Let’s take a look…
The treat love & color line claims to give stronger nails in just 1 week with 60% less peeling and 35% less breakage. infused with collagen & camellia extract, this caring warm mauve cream perfects nails in 1 step: no base or topcoat needed.
I’m so happy that essie FINALLY ditched their small brushes for these flat and wide ones! They work so much better!
on the mauve is described as a soothing mocha mauve. I find it kind of looks like a greige. What do you think?
With this product you don’t need a base coat or a top coat, only two coats of this and you’re good to do. I found that it pulled at the cuticles a bit and created a few patches, so I went with three coats (and a bit thick on my third coat). It is self levelling though and has this gorgeous shiny finish on its own.
Unfortunately by the time I went to bed (a good hour and a half later) my nails were still not 100% dry so I woke up with a few bedsheet prints on my nails, which you can see a little bit in this next picture that I took in the sunlight.
It took away the beautiful glossy shine, but I’m still happy with my nails. I’m curious to see how long I’ll go before they start to chip; I did them on Friday night and so far so good.
I don’t plan on buying more colours from this line, but I’m happy that I have this one and will gladly use it again when I feel that my nails need some extra TLC.
Have you tried anything from the treat love & color line?
