Back in December, I made a comment to Jayne of Cosmetic Proof about how I need to do sheet masks more often. She mentioned that she and Renee from See The World In Pink were going to mask every day in February in honour of the Lunar New Year and suggested that I join them. I immediately said YES! So in January, I ramped up my sheet mask game, hence why you’ve been seeing more mask reviews lately. And today I’m sharing with you the masks I did during week 1 of February.
We came up with themes for each week to help in selecting our masks, and although we don’t need to follow the themes, I’m doing my best to keep up with them even though I don’t always have enough masks to fit the theme. The theme for week 1 was PRINT. Since animal-themed masks usually have prints, this week features a lot of animal masks. I only had five printed masks on hand so for the last two masks I went with black masks instead of the typical white ones.
Day 1: MasqueBAR Pretty Animalz Zebra Sheet Mask
The first thing I always do when I open a new mask is smell it and this one smelled very pleasant, it kind of reminded me a bit of the green tea scent from green tea masks. I REALLY enjoyed the scent! The mask material is very stiff and I wonder if it’s because of the print. The top half of the mask fits very well; it goes all the way up my forehead, it fits well around my eyes and is the full length of my nose. The bottom half, however, does not fit as well. The hole for the mouth is a bit high and small, and the mask is not long enough to wrap under my chin so it gives me a permanent mask goatee. The mask also does not have any slits on it which it would really benefit from to give a better fit around the face.

While I had the mask on I was watching some IG stories and my face was slightly looking down and all of a sudden I realized that part of the bottom half of the mask was not touching my face anymore. It’s just so stiff that it was kind of coming off. I kept the mask on for 20 minutes, once removed I massaged the rest of the solution into my skin. My skin felt tacky. I did not add the rest of my skin care routine at that point. skin felt nice and cool. by the time I went to bed, it was maybe two hours after doing the mask and my skin was no longer tacky but my face still felt moisturize so I did not add any other products on to my face for the night.

Day 2: SUGU Printed Panda Sheet Mask
This mask smells very light and very pleasant, but I didn’t quite get an apple scent from it. The mask material is very very soft, and this mask is the best fitting masked I’ve tried so far. It covers all my forehead, the nose flap is on long enough to cover my nose, it’s not too big around the eyes, it’s more than 1 inch long below my chin so it stays well under the chin and does not give me a mask goatee, it has slits around the face to make the mask fit better. The only thing is that the hole for the mouth is a little bit small but I would rather have it small than too big.

I kept the mask on for a little over 20 minutes and once removed I massaged in the rest of the solution but it did not fully absorb so I stopped after a few minutes to let the rest sink in by itself. The mask felt very cool when I had it on and I enjoyed the smell throughout the entire wear time. My face felt great once removed. By the time I went to bed, a couple of hours later, my skin no longer felt tacky but it still felt moisturized so I did not add any other products before going to bed. So far this is one of my favourite masks, if not THE favourite mask.

Day 3: Holika Holika Baby Pet Magic Mask Sheet (Pug)
This mask smells perfumey; there is a freshness to it, but it’s still very perfumey. It does not bother me but it could bother people who have a sensitivity to scents. The mask material is very soft and there is a lot of solution in the packet. The fit is good; it fits well around my face without going into my hair and there are slits along the edges to make the mask fit better. It doesn’t go too far under the chin, but because of the solution, it seems to stay well. The print is a bit off centred. I thought it was a misprint, but Jayne also did this mask and her print was the same so I guess it’s just how it’s made.

I kept the mask on for 20 minutes. Once removed I massaged in the remaining solution, but there was too much and it did not fully absorb so after a few minutes I stopped. By the time I went to bed, about an hour later, my face no longer felt tacky so I added my evening serum. My face felt so soft when I was rubbing in the serum.

Day 4: A’Pieu Cucumber Slice Sheet Mask
This mask is slightly different; it’s not a full face sheet mask but little mask pieces that you can put where you need them.
I can barely detect a scent in this mask, although I get faint whiffs of a cool cucumber sent once in a while. But when I try to smell it again, I can’t seem to get it. It’s a very VERY faint scent. I wish there was one extra patch so I could cover my chin, otherwise, I get good coverage on my face. I messaged in some extra solution in between the patches so that my entire face would be moisturised and not just where the patches were.

I kept the patches on for 20 minutes. By then some of the patches were starting to get a bit dry, especially on my chin. The ones on my forehead seemed to be the moistest. There was a little bit of solution left overall so I massaged it in. My face felt a little bit tacky but it was very little so I proceeded right away with my night time serum. My face felt really cool and soft.

Day 5: MasqueBAR Pretty Animalz Otter Sheet Mask
This mask is the same as the zebra mask that I did on day 1, both in how it fits on my face and how stiff it is because of the print. There are some parts on the lower half that do not have a print on them and the mask material in those areas is VERY soft so it’s too bad that it’s very stiff where the print is. This one smells okay, but I find it quite perfumey. I don’t like it as much as I did the zebra mask. The rest of my thoughts on this one are the same as they were with the zebra mask.

Day 6: Sexylook Black Lava Ceramide Hydrating Hydrogel Mask
This mask smells very nice; it’s a little bit perfumey but fresh. The mask is folded in between a plastic sheet and a cotton gauze sheet. I was not sure if there was a specific side that was supposed to be on the face because I cannot read the instructions. I first put the small printed side on my face and it did not seem to stick well so I eventually took the mask off and changed it around. It stuck much better to the face with the big printed side on the face. There are slits around the mask that help it fit well around the face.
I later read the instructions online and it says to apply the gel side to the face… still not sure which side is the gel side, lol!

I kept the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes (I forgot to time). Once removed, my face felt almost dry but there was still a little bit of solution left, so I massage it in. My face felt a bit tacky but I still proceeded with the rest of my evening skincare routine. This mask was just okay and it is not one that I plan on repurchasing.

Day 7: Sexylook Intensive Hydrating Cotton Black Mask
This mask smells very light and a bit perfumey but it’s a pleasant smell. It’s made of a cotton material that is very soft. It has slits around it to make it conform better to the shape of the face. The fit is a bit weird around the nose though, the strip above the mouth is a bit low for me, but otherwise, I get a good fit. It also has a good amount of solution that makes it stick well and I did not get a mask goatee with this one.

I kept the mask on for 15 minutes. Once removed I still had a lot of solution on my face, so I massaged it in for a few minutes then let the rest absorb by itself. Within 20 minutes or so the rest was fully absorbed and there was no tackiness whatsoever. Before going to bed I proceeded with the rest of my evening skincare routine. I really enjoyed this mask.

Final Thoughts
I’ve been really enjoying discovering the prints on the masks! My favourite is, hands down, the SUGU Printed Panda Sheet Mask. It’s the best fitting mask I’ve ever tried! The mask was still soft given that it had a print, and it smelled really nice. I need to get ALL the masks from SUGU!
My least favourite masks were the two from MasqueBAR. The print made them really stiff and they didn’t fit that well because of that. It’s really too bad because MasqueBAR has A LOT of printed masks and I was hoping to try some of the other ones, but I’m really not interested after having tried these two.
