Has the warm weather arrived where you are? I think we’re finally in summer mode around here, but it sure took a while to get here! Sun protection is something we need to be doing all year round, but it’s especially important in the summer when the sun is at its hottest. Looking like a lobster is never in style. š So today I’ll be sharing with you some sun care products from LASPA.
LASPA is a Canadian brand, woo! They create natural mineral sunscreens and they currently have three products, which you’ll learn about today. These sun care products are:

While you’re wearing these sunscreens you’re not only protecting yourself but the environment as well. These are reef safe so they will not contribute to coral bleaching (some common sunscreen ingredients have been found to increase coral bleaching). And these are also biodegradable.
LASPA Daily Sun Protection Mineral Sunscreen SPF 20 (CAD $44.00)
Used as a daily regime for under makeup or all over body, it moisturizes the skin with organic coconut oil, and counteracts the aging and damaging effects of the sun rays with vitamin E.

When I think “mineral sunscreen” I immediately think “white cast” because they tend to leave a white film on the skin. Sometimes you can make them disappear by rubbing them in a lot, but if you put too much then you’re just left with white skin, literally! So I was HAPPILY surprised when I first applied this SPF 20 lotion because it does NOT leave a white cast, at all! I don’t know what kind of sorcery they use, but it applies like regular lotion and disappears on the skin. How awesome is that?! I do find it a bit oily though so use very small amounts.
I wore this sunscreen while shoveling in our backyard and it protected my skin through all the work and sweat.
This product is odourless.
LASPA Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 (CAD $40.00)
Formulated with a unique SPF blend, LASPA keeps skin smooth and protected by using essential oils, plant materials, zinc oxide to deliver a translucent, non-greasy result. This product is very similar to the SPF20 lotion: it does not leave a white cast, it’s odourless, and it’s a bit oily (so use small amounts). The major difference is the SPF factor (this one is 30) and I find the consistency of this one a bit lighter/runnier. This one is meant for sensitive skin (like the neck and face) while the SPF20 lotion is more of an all over body application. But either lotion can be applied on the face and/or the body. Just pick the one that suits your skin’s needs.
LASPA SPF50 Ultra Sun Protection Stick (CAD $18.00)
Providing the Ultimate Sun Protection, this SPF50 stick is pocket size and perfect for use in conjunction with our SPF30 as a touch up for T-Zone, or heavily exposed areas. This product is new this year and OMG I LOVE IT! With an SPF of 50 I expected it to be greasy, but it’s not. I actually find it kind of mattifying. You can get a bit of a white cast if you go overboard with the application, but otherwise it blends into the skin really well.
The way I apply it is I rub it around my face (without covering it entirely) then I use my fingers to spread it around. For example, on my forehead I’ll go from one side to the other holding it vertically, then I spread it out with my fingers.
My daughter also loves using this stick so I’ve been letting her bring it to school (since she brings sunscreen to reapply midday).
Final Thoughts
I was really impressed with these sunscreens. If you want to go natural with your suncare and don’t like the white cast that a lot of other products give you then you definitely need to give these LASPA products a try.
The star of the show for me is, hands down, the SPF50 Ultra Sun Protection Stick. I need to get an extra one to keep in my purse since my daughter has my current one.
