Mint Candy Apple by Essie is a nail polish that I’ve been lusting after for years, but just never bought for some reason. However, thanks to my sister-in-law I now own it, yay! 😀 Merci Caro!!! 😉 Let’s take a look at this beauty…

This version of Mint Candy Apple is the PERFECT robbin’s egg blue. The reason why I say “this version” is because there are two colours of Mint Candy Apple that exist; this one, and one that is more mint green (as you would expect given the name).

I found this article from Essie Envie that explains the two versions of this nail polish. Long story short: the blue version is a manufacturing error and it’s the old version. The new version is green. However, the old version is supposedly numbered 702, but mine is numbered 754, so I’m not sure what that means.

Anywho, the formula was great to work with and was fully opaque with two coats. I actually have three coats in these pictures because I had to apply three coats of the white polish and I just like all fingers to be the same. But two coats were enough.
For the nail art, I used all these products:

- Skinfood – Pine Nut Break Free Nail Strengthener
- Essie – Mint Candy Apple x3 coats on nails, and x1 coat for chevrons
- Sally Hansen – White On x3 coats
- essie – gel setter top coat x1 coat over white
- Joe Fresh – Tin x1 coat for chevrons
- China Glaze – Fairy Dust x1 coat over chevrons
- butterLONDON – Matte Finish topcoat
- Glam My Mani – Chevron Nail Vinyls
After my base coat, I applied three coats of White On on my thumb and ring finger followed by essie‘s top coat (to make it dry faster). I waited about 10 minutes for the topcoat to dry before applying the nail vinyls to create the chevron pattern. Once the chevrons were done, I let them dry a few minutes before going over them with Fairy Dust, then I added two layers of matte top coat over all nails. LOVE!

I absolutely LOVE this colour of Mint Candy Apple! I still want the green version too, but this one, as I mentioned before, is the PERFECT robbin’s egg blue.
Do you have Mint Candy Apple? Which version do you have?
