Rocky Mountain Soap Company (RMSC) is a company that I’ve been wanting to try for a long time and I’m really happy to have the opportunity to try a couple of their products! Today we’ll be taking a look at their Bamboo Body Scrub ($25 CAD) and their Serenity Bath Salt ($6 CAD).
RMSC is nestled in the Canadian Rockies and they only use 100% natural and simple ingredients. I love reading ingredients that I can pronounce and understand! Ok, so maybe the scientific names aren’t always easy to pronounce 😉 BUT the common names are all words we know.
Let’s take a look at those natural ingredients. I would usually give a description of what the ingredients are, but these ones don’t need further explanation.
Bamboo Body Scrub
Fine bamboo powder gently exfoliates dry and lifeless skin. Shea butter leaves skin soft and hydrated. Spearmint essential oil offers uplifting and fresh aromatherapy qualities. Grapefruit essential oil is refreshing and is thought by aromatherapists to combat cellulite. Cornstarch soothes irritated skin.
The first scent I detect in the Bamboo Body Scrub is the peppermint, or the spearmint, or both. Other than that I can’t really detect any scents, but I do enjoy the smells of peppermint and spearmint so I don’t mind.
The scrubbing bits aren’t too big so it gives a nice soft exfoliation without irritating the skin. This scrub will leave an oily residue behind, but it’s not the worse I’ve seen and I don’t mind it. It is something to note though if you’re not a fan of that.
I don’t usually use body scrubs in the shower because I find washing AND scrubbing my body just takes too much time, and I’m usually trying to find ways to save time in the morning. That being said, I like to keep my scrubs next to the sink (with my soap and hand lotion) because I love a good scrub on my hands, especially before going to bed. I always finish my pre-bed routine with washing my hands and applying a nice thick cream so I can wake up with silky soft hands. Adding a scrub to that routine adds the perfect touch! My hands are SO SOFT in the morning after I’ve used this scrub.
Serenity Bath Salt
Find a little peace in your bathtub. Epsom salts soothe tired muscles, while pink himalayan and sea salts deeply cleanse the body. A relaxing blend of French lavender, cedarwood and vetiver clear the mind. Let the tranquil waters relieve anxiety with floral top notes of ylang ylang, sweet orange and rose geranium.
When I smell the Serenity Bath Salt I detect the spiciness from the cedar and black pepper the most, quickly followed by the sweetness of the orange. I don’t quite get the lavender or the ylang ylang as I think they get overpowered by the other scents. That being said, I still enjoy the smell of this bath salt.
I won’t lie, I rarely take baths. I love baths, but I just never give myself the time for them. However, I wanted to give this bath salt a proper review so a bath was in order! If you follow my personal IG account and watch my stories you would have seen these pictures last week.
Taking a bath FELT GOOD! I really needed that me time and the scent from the bath salt was very relaxing.
Since these are non-coloured bath salts they will not affect the colour of your water and they won’t leave any residue in your tub after you’re done. But they do give a nice scent to your bathroom while you’re taking your bath, and I found there was a faint remainder of the scent the next morning.
The pouch of salt I received was a single use quantity (100g), but they also come in 580g too ($22 CAD).
My first experience with Rocky Mountain Soap Company was a very pleasant one and I definitely want to try more products! I’m currently eyeing their Natural Sunscreen Vanilla Coconut SPF 31 and their Vanilla Coconut Body Lotion. I mean, vanilla AND coconut? YES PLEASE!
Have you tried RMSC? What products do you recommend?
