Born Pretty Stamping Polish in Moonlit – Nail Art, Swatches & Review

Stamping nail art is one of my favourite type of nail art to do because you can get beautiful results without being good at drawing. I was really happy to receive a stamping polish from Born Pretty to try out, so let’s take a look at Moonlit ($9.99 USD).

The bottle is a little small at containing only 6ml, but being a stamping polish you don’t usually use as much as when you paint all your nails with the same colour. The brush is a flat brush and works really well.

Moonlit is from The Universe Series collection (as seen under the bottle), although on the Born Pretty site it’s listed as the Chameleon Pearl Stamping collection. Regardless of what collection it’s part of, it’s a gorgeous metallic shade that shifts from blue to teal depending on the light.

For the stamping I used two coats of Wet n Wild “Darkest Hour” (black) on all nails except my ring finger, on which I applied to coats of Moonlit. I then added two layers of butterLONDON “Matte Finish Topcoat” on all nails and waited about 30 minutes for the nails to dry enough so I can do my stamping without smudging the base colour. For the stamping I used my large jelly stamper and my butterfly plate, both from Born Pretty, and proceeded to stamp the flowers from the right side of the butterfly with the Moonlit stamping polish. I did not add another topcoat over the stamping (because it can blur the design), and this is the end result, which I absolutely LOVE!

I was out for a girls’ night the day after I did this nail art and received many compliments for my nails. My husband even mentioned a few times that he really liked my nails. I can’t stop looking at my nails too because I seriously love how these turned out.

Here are a few more pictures taken in different lighting conditions. My light box where I usually take my nail pictures has some daylight bulbs in it. This next picture is in indirect sunlight.

On my ring finger I have two coats of Moonlit and as you can see it does not look streaky at all (metallic polishes can have streaky finishes). I also added a matte topcoat on that finger so it’s not AS shiny as it could be, but you can see its regular finish in the stamp on all the other fingers.

Wow, I don’t think I ever talked this much about a nail polish before! The colour is gorgeous and the formula was great to work with. I really only have good things to say about this stamping polish and want to try the other colours from the collection.
