Essence always seems to have a second collection of nail polish in addition to their regular line in their display at the store. The current collection is the out of space stories and every time I go to Shoppers Drug Mart I can’t help but scan the display to check out their products. A couple of weeks ago I decided to buy this nail polish called 1000 light years away.
I’ve always been a huge fan of essence‘s brushes, and while this one is not as wide as their regular line it still works well.
1000 light years away is a black jelly base with micro and mini holographic glitters. Here’s a macro shot to give you a closer look.
When I first started to apply this nail polish I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it fully opaque because the first coat was quite sheer. I went a bit thicker on the second coat, and while there were still patches that needed touch up, it was evident that full opacity was achieveable. I added a third coat to fix a few patches and that was it. This nail polish has quite the dull finish on its own, and it’s quite rough because of the glitters, so I finished it off with two generous layers of topcoat to give it a nice shiny and smooth finish.
The camera does not capture the true beauty of this nail polish, and we’ve had cloudy weather all weekend so I was not able to get a picture in direct sunlight either.
Believe me when I say that the rainbow of colours that glitters in the light is really beautiful.
I’m really happy that I picked up this nail polish because it’s like having a starry night in a bottle.
Did you pick up anything from the out of space stories collection?
