Five on Friday – Feb 4, 2022: Daal recipe, Éminence Organic, ETTE Tea, Knix undies, and Wordle

Happy Friday and welcome back to another Five on Friday post! It’s been a quiet week overall, so let’s jump into today’s subjects.

1. Comforting Coconut Red Lentil Daal

Our daughter is a picky eater and she complains almost every meal. She’ll gladly eat hot dogs, pogos, chicken nuggets, you get the idea. But if it’s chicken or beef of pork, and even veggies, she complains. She’ll still eat it, but not without complaining. Except for carrots and cucumbers, she loves those.

A couple of weeks ago Renee posted about a daal recipe that she tried and it got me looking into daal recipes. I found this Comforting Coconut Red Lentil Daal recipe that sounded absolutely delicious so I gave it a try last weekend. And you know what? Our daughter LOVED it! I served it with rice and she ate it all. She even said she wanted to eat it every day. She had some leftovers two days later and loved it just as much.

I’ll definitely be making this recipe again, even on a monthly basis. I’ll play around with different lentils and veggies (she didn’t even know it had onions in it), but the spices I’ll keep the same because it was delicious. We all loved it.

Do you make daal?

2. Éminence Organic

A few weeks ago I tried a sample of the Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF 40 by Éminence Organic and I immediately fell in love with it. About a week later, BeautySense was having a save-the-tax event so I bought the full size. I also bought the Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum because it sounded like a nice eye serum (Erase crow’s feet and fine lines with this potent age corrective serum created for the delicate skin around the eyes). I’ve only been using it for a few days so I can’t say that it minimized any lines yet, but it feels nice.

I’m working on a review of the Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF 40 so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks.

3. ETTE Tea

A few years ago I bought some teas from ETTE TEA and fell in love with their Pandan Chiffon tea. I even reviewed it on this blog. When I decided to start drinking caffeinated teas again a few weeks back (I stopped a year ago because of bad reflux) I wanted to treat myself with some Pandan Chiffon. It’s one of my favourite teas along with Jasmine and Genmaicha, I love it that much.

Let me tell you that this was one expensive bag of tea! The shipping is definitely a lot more than when I first ordered from them back in 2015, heck it was even more than the tea! But, like I said, I wanted to treat myself so I went for it. That being said, they shipped through DHL so I was charged some additional processing fees from DHL. All in, I paid just under $90 CAD for this pouch of tea. I’ll admit, at first I was afraid that it wouldn’t taste as good as I remembered it (given how much I paid for it). But, thankfully, it was SO GOOD! Just like I remembered it.

This tea probably wouldn’t knock your socks off, but there’s just something about it that makes my taste buds sing.

Will I buy it again? In a few years, maybe, probably, yes. But next time I will make the shipping worth it by either buying more of it or trying other flavours.

4. Knix undies

My favourite underwear at the moment are the knix essential lace bikini (regular and/or leak-proof). They give me no visible panty line and they’re really comfortable. I just bought three more pairs bringing my total to ten (4 leak-proof and 6 regular). With every purchase you also get a laundry bag.

I’ll definitely be buying a few more. You see, when I exercise I shower in the middle of the day so I often wear two pairs of undies per day. I’d like to be able to wear these all the time so I need a few more. 😉

If you’d like to try knix you can save $15 off your first order by using this link (I also get a $15 credit when you place an order).

Do you have a favourite brand/style of underwear?

5. Wordle

Have you seen people sharing yellow and green squares and wonder what they are? It’s this online game called Wordle where you try to guess one five-letter word per day. You get six guesses. When you get a letter that is correct, but in the wrong place, it gets highlighted in yellow. When the letter is in the correct spot it’s in green. Here is one of my guesses from earlier this week.

When people share their results, it hides the letters as to not give the word away because it’s the same word for everyone.

It’s fun and addicting! Have you been playing too?

I hope you have a great weekend!
