If you’ve read my Monthly Purchases posts then you know that I’ve been buying a lot of dry shampoos these past few months. There is a reason to this buying madness that I’ll get to in this post. I have since stopped buying them because I have enough to last me a GOOD while. So let’s see which ones I have.
This all started when I ran out of my beloved COLAB Extreme Volume Dry Shampoo+. I was trying to find another dry shampoo that was as volumizing and that I could buy locally. The shipping costs on FarleyCo (to buy COLAB) are almost as much as the product itself so I’m not interested in buying online.
This dry shampoo is the type that leaves a white residue in your hair that you have to fluff out. It then leaves your hair feeling like you teased it, and you can tell that you have a product in your hair. But it helps add volume and texture, which is what I want for the top of my head.
When browsing dry shampoos at stores I would buy the ones with labels such as “volume/volumizing”.
The Batiste Dry Shampoo Plus (XXL Volume) is the first one that I tried and it gives the same effect as the COLAB one, but it has a strong floral scent that turned me off.
After I was done with the Batiste dry shampoo I tried to find another one that was as volumizing, but with a different (better) scent, to no avail. The rest of these dry shampoos do not give extreme volume, but they work great on the lower half of my head where I just want oil control and NOT extreme volume. I find them all good so it’s all about what kind of scents you prefer.
Cake – The ‘Do Gooder (Volumizing Dry Shampoo) – This one smells like sweet pastries, it’s SO YUMMY! I LOVE this scent!
COLAB – Active Dry Shampoo + – This one I received for review purposes earlier this year. It has a very pleasant fresh scent.
göt2b – Fresh it Up Dry Shampoo – This one I had before this whole buying extravaganza started (but it’s not volumizing). It smells fresh and it’s a very pleasant scent.
Herbal Essence – Bio:Renew White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint Dry Shampoo – This one was mostly bought because it says volume on it, but it was also because the scent intrigued me. I’m not quite sure how to describe it though, but I do enjoy it. I don’t find it minty, but it does have a freshness to it. And it’s kind of slightly fruity, but not in a sweet way, more in a fresh way.
OGX – Coconut Miracle Oil Dry Shampoo – I bought this one because it says Extra Strength on the bottle. It does create more volume than the other dry shampoos listed above, but not as much as the Batiste and COLAB ones. One thing that I don’t like about this one is that it sprays out wet. WTH?! So when I spray my roots I grab my hair dryer to make it dry faster because letting it air dry kind of makes my roots start to get wavy, and it sort of defeats the purpose of using a dry shampoo as opposed to just washing my hair again. It turns a bit white as it dries too so you need to fluff it out. It smells great though, like coconut, which is probably my favourite scent ever. Give me anything coconut-scented and I’m in love! 😉 But I’m not in love with this dry shampoo and will be giving it away.

I ended up buying the Batiste dry shampoo again since it’s the only one that I’ve tried so far that works just like the COLAB one. And after going through a full bottle already I kind of got used to its scent. I would still like to find one with a different scent, but until then I guess I’ll just keep on using Batiste.
