I didn’t know what I was going to do for nail art this year for Canada Day. When I went to Dollar Tree earlier this week I decided to take a look at what they had in the hopes that they may have some small maple leaf stickers or something, and I came across something even better: some Canada Day nail stickers!
They had two different designs so I grabbed one of each. They only have ten stickers per pack, so what you see is what you get. The one with the maple leafs (not the flags) only has one rhinestone in it. I don’t know if it was missing one or if they’re all like that because this was the only pack left of this design, so I could not compare it with others.
For this nail art I used the following products:
- Base coat: Skinfood Pine Nut Break Free Nail Strengthener x1 coat
- Red: China Glaze Scarlet x2 coats
- White: essence snow alert! x3 coats
- Glamour Glints Nail Jewels Sticker
- Top coat: essie gel setter x2 coats over stickers and x1 coat over other nails
Since these are stickers and they have a little thickness to them I waited for my nail polish to try before applying them. If you don’t wait long enough, instead of having the sticker stick and curve to the shape of your nail, it’ll instead lift the nail polish from your nail and ruin your manicure (I’ve had this happen before). Then to really seal in the stickers I applied two layers of top coat over them.
And this is the result!
The stickers do show a bit and you can’t really tell in the pictures I took in my light box so I took a couple of pictures in the car; one in direct sunlight and one in the shade. You can see the stickers’ outlines a bit better here.
The outlines aren’t that bad, but I just wanted you to know that they are visible.
Since these are stickers you can just stick them directly onto your nails, you don’t need to do a full manicure like I did. So if you want some nail bling for Canada Day without actually doing your nails then these stickers will be perfect. And at $1.25 CAD a pop you can’t go wrong!
Will you be doing your nails for Canada Day?
