Elate Cosmetics is a brand that I’ve been wanting to try for a while. They’re an all-natural brand AND they’re Canadian, that’s a win-win in my books! I was extremely happy to have the opportunity to try a couple of their products and I’ll be sharing them with you today. We’ll be looking at their Essential Mascara and their Universal Crème in the colour Love.

The Elate Essential Mascara plumps and lengthens your lashes, but is created for sensitive eyes to be water and sweat resistant, so no matter how your day changes you’ll be ready to meet it all.
The formula of this mascara is a bit dry and it kind of smells like chocolate. No joke. It’s definitely the best smelling mascara I’ve ever tried!
I have a love/hate relationship with mascaras. I love wearing them, but I hate that 99% of them smudge on me. So let’s see how this one faired.
First up though, here is what it looks like on me. It’s not an overly dramatic look, but it gives a good effect for natural makeup looks.
This next picture is three hours after application.
Womp womp! (The smudging showed a bit more in real life, but I had to use the flash since daylight was getting too low.) I always expect smudging when trying a new mascara so I was not surprised by this.

The Universal Crème is described as your all-in-one colour creator. Elate Universal Crème will flush your cheeks with a look that’s soft, dewy and natural, or highlight your face with a youthful contoured glow. This little gem also gives lips a boost with matching colour that stays fresh all day.
Love is a bright neutral pink, your perfect match for creating naturally flushed cheeks and lips.
For this picture I applied it on my lips with a lip brush to make sure I had straight lines since I was doing a close-up, but I’ve also applied it using my fingers and that works well too. It adds a beautiful hint of colour to the lips.
For my cheeks I use a brush, but you could also dab it on with your fingers. It adds a beautiful natural flush. Here is a natural makeup look using the Essential Mascara and the Universal Crème on my cheeks and lips.
Final Thoughts
The Essential Mascara is obviously a pass for me, but I usually expect smudging from mascaras so this came as no surprise. The Univeral Crème however I absolutely love and it’s been my go-to blush lately! I always try to go low-key/natural with my blush and this one is just perfect!
