I’ve been keeping my makeup quite low-key these past few months and haven’t been grabbing for any bright lip products. When I saw Tori’s (Doll & Dye) review about the Physicians Formula Butter Lip Creams they sounded like exactly what I needed to complement my low-key mood. When I saw them on sale at SDM I grabbed two, let’s see how these worked out for me…
These are described as A buttery lip color providing the ultimate creamy cushion texture to nurture and protect lips. Don’t they sound great?!
But first, their ingredients.

Both Pinkini and Mauvin’ to Brazil are the type of shade I usually go for so it’s only normal that I grabbed those two.
These feel AMAZING on the lips! They’re moisturizing and look so juicy. The product itself is very soft so don’t push too much out of the bullet or it’ll end up breaking on you when you apply it. One of my two won’t even retract because it’s just that soft!
Mauvin’ to Brazil is a beautiful mauve shade that I absolutely love! I find this one has an 80s lipstick scent mixed with a bit of fruity sweetness. But I only really smell it if I smell the product directly; I don’t notice it on my lips. It also tastes sweet, but I only notice it if I lick my lips. However, it leaves weird blue dots on the inner rim of my mouth that I can’t get rid of; it’s like it stains my skin.
I can only show you Mauvin’ to Brazil on my lips because I lost Pinkini. This feels so weird because I NEVER lose ANYTHING! I had it at work with me, and I usually keep the lip product I currently wear on my desk for easy touch-ups. One day when I was wearing Pinkini I moved to a new cubicle, and after my move, it was nowhere to be found. It was on my desk and I think it must have rolled over to the trash pile without me noticing it, and out it went with the trash. I’ve looked everywhere more than once and it’s just gone. Oh well.
Pinkini had a really funky scent that I could not stand at all. Even when I only applied it lightly I would get whiffs of it and it would really turn me off. I still used it because that one did not leave any blue (or other coloured) dots on my lips. But I was going to throw it away after I was done reviewing it. It must have known… 😉
I smelled more of these lippies at my next visit to SDM and they all smelled funky. 🙁 I got lucky with Mauvin’ to Brazil because it smells ok, but the blue dots are really annoying. Even if I apply it lightly with a small quick swipe I still end up with blue spots.
I have really mixed feelings about these Lip Creams. I really enjoy how they feel on my lips, but most of them smell funky, and the one that smells good leaves weird blue dots on my lips.
Have you tried these Physicians Formula Lip Creams? What do they smell like to you?
