Back in April is when I first posted about Essie‘s Mint Candy Apple. I was so excited to finally have that colour in my nail polish stash, but also noticed that it wasn’t the minty green colour that seemed to come up when looking up the colour online. That’s when I learned about the formula mixup and the existence of two versions of this nail polish. I then bought the new version, which I shared with you last month, and today I’ll be comparing the two colours together.
Obviously the main difference is that one is blue and the other is green. The old version, which is apparently a manufacturing error, is a gorgeous pale blue, and the new version, the colour it was always meant to be, is the perfect mint green.
Formula wise, the bottles I have are very similar. The new formula is slightly better to work with, but the old formula is still really good to work with and I have no complaints. Both formulas are fully opaque with two coats, and neither is streaky nor patchy. In these pictures I have to coats of each colour and they are topped with Essie Gel Setter Top Coat because I wanted to see what they looked like with a shiny finish since my previous swatches were mattified.
I absolutely love both versions of Mint Candy Apple and am really happy that I have them both.
I wonder if they’ll bring back the old version with a new name because it really is a beautiful blue.
Do you have one of these, or maybe both?
