I’ve been on a mission lately to find a drugstore alternative to my beloved Mac Lipglass in the shade Cultured. I wear it almost daily so it doesn’t last that long (about two months). I’d like to find an option that is more budget-friendly and something I can easily find closer to home (I’m not even five minutes from a Shoppers Drug Mart, but 20+ from a mall). I know I could shop online, but that takes me back to $$ – I want budget-friendly. It’s also been a while since I’ve tried new makeup products, so getting all these new-to-me lip glosses is really fun!
Back in December I took advantage of the PC Optimum Bonus Redemption event where you could get more value for redeeming points, and part of my mega haul were some lipglosses. Today we’ll be taking a look at the Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss, the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 8HR Pro-Gloss, and the Rimmel London Stay Glossy Lipgloss.

I’m in a MLBB phase lately so that’s why these are all in the same shade range.

Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss in 030 Flushed Blush
This one has a very pleasant fruity scent that I find kind of berry-ish. I like it.
This colour, 030 Flushed Blush, gives a very beautiful natural colour that is MLBB on me, and I like the shine that it has. It’s one that can be easily applied without a mirror, which I like because you can do touchups wherever you are.

This one feels very nice on the lips, kind of like a creamy lip balm. However, it’s not moisturizing for me. I find that it helps add a bit of hydration to my lips, but the feeling is VERY temporary and my lips yearn for extra moisture. I have to reapply OFTEN otherwise, my lips feel and look dry. And even then, my lips just feel dry overall. So using this one for an entire day is not good for my lips.
This one has no tackiness whatsoever, and that makes it the least long-lasting of the three products in this post.
I bought this Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Rimmel London Stay Glossy Lipgloss in 110 Dorchester Rose
This one smells like body lotion and it reminds me of the Biotherm Body Milk. I was kind of confused when I first smelled it because that is not what I expect a lip product to smell like. It still smells nice though.
110 Dorchester Rose is a clear base with silver glitters in it. It looks light pink in the tube, but it’s so light and sheer that it looks clear on the lips. As for the glitters, you don’t feel them on your lips; there is zero grittiness.

This one feels good on my lips and doesn’t leave them yearning for more hydration. It has more staying power than the Burt’s Bees gloss, but not as much as the L’Oréal gloss (below). It’s a wee bit tacky but less than the L’Oréal, and I can rub my lips together with this one.
While I like the feel of this one, I wish it had more of a coloured base. But that can be easily fixed by trying a different shade.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible 8HR Pro Gloss in 115 Blush
This gloss smells fruity and pleasant.
115 Blush has a pink base with silver glitters. It does not feel gritty on the lips, just fluid like a regular gloss. It is the tackiest gloss in this post, and this makes it last longer than the other two. It’s also tacky enough that I can’t rub my lips together once it’s on because it’s too sticky. I don’t mind that, but I just wanted to mention it.

I love the look of this one, but, and it’s a huge BUT, it gets all over my teeth, womp womp. When I first apply it, all is good. But once I reapply, it gets all over my top teeth (see the bottom half of my top incisors).

This cannot be removed by passing my tongue over my lips, I HAVE to use my fingers (or rub someting/a tissue on my teeth). I usually wear MAC glosses and those are SUPER tacky, but I’ve NEVER had them stick to my teeth.
I bought this L’Oréal Paris Infallible 8HR Pro Gloss at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Final Thoughts
If you find that these all look similar on my lips, it’s because they are. I thought they were a bit more different from each other, but when I put them on back to back to take these pictures I noticed how similar they really are.

I like the look and feel of all three, but there’s only one that I will try in other shades.
- I don’t like how dry my lips feel with the Burt’s Bees gloss so I will not try more colours.
- I don’t like how the L’Oréal Paris gloss gets all over my teeth. It’s a really annoying feeling and it drives me nuts. So I will not try more colours.
- I wish that the Rimmel London gloss was more opaque, and that is my only con about the colour that I chose. But that can be easily fixed by getting a different shade. I plan on trying more shades from this line.
There are other glosses that I would like to try, but the packaging that they come in is not sealed so anybody can open them at the store and try them. That is not hygienic AT ALL so I don’t buy those.
Before I buy more shades of the Rimmel London Stay Glossy Lipgloss, I have four lip-plumping glosses to try out so keep an eye out for that review next month.
Have you tried any of these glosses? Are there any that you recommend?
Chantal 🙂
