Skincare is one routine that has remained the same for me since the quarantine started. If I don’t take care of my skin then I break out and it gets all yucky, so I just can’t slack off in this department. These dermalogica products have been part of my skincare routine for a while now so it’s about time that I share them with you.

dermalogica daily superfoliant
The daily superfoliant ($83 CAD) is a charcoal scrub and it’s gentle enough that it can be used daily.
benefits:
– Resurfaces and deep cleanses for your smoothest skin ever.
– Adsorbs environmental pollutants and helps detoxify pores.
– Helps fight pollution triggers that lead to premature skin aging.

After cleansing, dispense about a half-teaspoon into very wet hands and create a creamy paste by rubbing hands together. Apply to face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Massage gently for one minute, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
If you add too much water it’ll suds up and feel just like a cleanser on the face, so go easy on the water to get a nice paste. Also, be careful when dispensing the product into your hand because it’ll just pour out and you’ll end up with too much – like I do almost every time! It feels really nice on the skin; not harsh or anything like that. It takes a bit of water to fully rinse off (your face will feel slippery when there’s still some left) and once gone it leaves your face feeling squeaky clean.

It smells… interesting. At first it smells like charcoal, but once I have it on my skin I find that it changes to a sulfur-ish scent. I always think that my sink drain needs a good cleaning because of the smell, lol! Once rinsed off though the smell is gone and there is no lingering scent either. It’s just a weird scent when I have it on my skin.
Even though this scrub is gentle enough for daily use, I only use it once in a while. It’s not because of its scent though. 😉 It’s because I use a cleansing device at night, which kind of gives a light exfoliation, so I don’t feel the need to reach for a scrub all too often.

dermalogica phyto replenish body oil
The phyto replenish body oil ($73 CAD) is a wonderful smelling oil that will hydrate your skin and won’t leave it oily (as long as you don’t use too much).
Replenish, calm and moisturize with this antioxidant-rich blend of skin-nourishing oils. French Plum Seed Oil, Avocado Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil are rich in skin-replenishing Omega Fatty Acids such as Linoleic, Linolenic and Oleic Acid plus Vitamin E to help protect skin’s lipid barrier.

This oil smells SO GOOD. It’s a light floral scent with a herbal side. I wish I was better at describing scents because I’m really not doing it justice.
It also leaves my skin feeling really soft. If I put too much it will leave it a bit oily (it is an oil afterall). But just the right amount gives a nice hydration to the skin. I did find it a bit too light when I tried it back in January; my skin needed heavier hydration during the really dry winter months. But right now it’s perfect, and it’ll be great this summer too.
The packaging for this oil is gorgeous! dermalogica partnered with interactive street artist Kelsey Montague for the butterfly design. I wish I had that on a wall in my house!

Final Thoughts
dermalogica is a brand that’s been on my must-try list for a long time and I’m happy that I had the chance to try them; these two products are great! While I don’t use the daily superfoliant all that often (because of my cleansing device), it really is a nice and gentle scrub and worth a try if you’re looking for a new one (even with its weird scent). And the phyto repleneshing body oil leaves my skin feeling so soft with a wonderful light scent. This one I use multiple times a week. You wouldn’t think so by looking at how full the bottle still is, but you really don’t need a lot.
What dermalogica products have you tried?
– Chantal 🙂
