My gel polish kick is still going strong and one brand I’ve tried before and really liked is Bio Seaweed Gel (see my swatches). First off, they’re Canadian, woo! And they have a line called UNITY which does not require base coat or topcoat; it’s an all-in-one so you save on time when doing your nails.
Last month I bought a few gel nail polishes from them (see them in my July purchases) and I could not wait to try the colour 249 Royal Blue. Let’s take a closer look…

249 Royal Blue is described as ocean blue sparkle, solid finish. I find that it has beachy mermaid vibes and I LOVE IT!
I applied three coats for full opacity; I found it patchy with only two coats. And that’s it; no base coat or topcoat.

The sparkle is gorgeous and really comes to life in the sunshine.

I’m in love and can’t stop looking at my nails.

One thing about gel nail polishes is that they can make your nails thick. With base coat, two to three layers of colours and a topcoat, it adds up. Since you can skip the base coat and topcoat with the UNITY line, my nails definitely don’t get as thick.
Even if I skipped the base coat and topcoat, these still lasted as long as when I do them with base and top coat. I did my nails almost two weeks ago (two Thursdays ago) and they still look as good today as they did on day one. And that’s with doing lots of yardwork. I wear gloves when doing yardwork, but there are times when I can tell that a normal manicure would have gotten chipped. But not these nails!
I’m looking forward to trying the other colours I bought, and I’m definitely going to be buying more.
Have you tried this brand before?
– Chantal 🙂
