Ever since my daughter started JK in September I’ve been struggling a lot with my energy levels and my hobbies have fallen to the wayside as a result (blogging included). 🙁 Also we’ve been sick since the end of October with a flu and then a cold (that I’m still dealing with) so it really hasn’t helped at all. Because of that I definitely don’t take enough time for myself and it’s been way too long since I’ve done a face mask, so I finally made time last week and tried the MasqueBAR Rose Gold Foil Sheet Mask.
Let’s see what this masque is made of… or at least the essence that it’s soaking in because I don’t know what the material is made of; it’s not listed.

There is a lot of essence in this pouch, and I mean A LOT! I’ve never seen so much essence in a mask pouch before! And the mask was so wet that it kept dripping everywhere (as you’ll see on my lip in my mask selfie later down). The essence has a perfumy scent, but it wasn’t too strong so it was bearable and did not give me a headache.
The outside of the mask is, well, rose gold foil, and the inside is a thin soft fabric that kind of feels velour-like.
The mask itself was a bit stiff, so even though it was soaked in essence it didn’t stick enough to the skin and would eventually give me a mask goatee. The overall size of the mask was relatively good for my face; not exposing my nose too much and reaching pretty well all around my face.
My nose was raw from blowing it so much due to a sinus cold that it stung there for the first 30 seconds or so. Afther that it was ok and I didn’t feel anything.
I kept the mask on for 20 minutes and after removing it I massaged my face until it asborbed the essence. Was my skin ever smooth after that mask, wowza! My face didn’t feel as hydrated as it has with other sheet masks I’ve tried so I followed up with my usual pre-bedtime products. My skin felt so soft when I was applying my products that I just wanted to keep massaging my face. The essence did leave my skin feeling a bit tacky, and after adding my usual products my skin felt oilier than usual and still tacky. In the morning the tackiness was gone, but I think it’s because my pillow absorbed the excess products during the night because some parts here and there were still quite oily.
The mask itself was just ok for me, but the feeling of my face afterwards was amazing! I bought this mask at Shoppers Drug Mart for what I think was around $4 (if I remember correctly). I would not hesitate to pick it up again if I saw it on sale.
Have you tried this sheet mask or other masks from MasqueBAR?
