Monthly Purchases: August 2020

September has been tough for me in terms of energy and motivation, hence the lack of posts this month. But I’m still here! 🙂 As always, after we’ve looked at my monthly empties, it’s time to look at my monthly purchases. What beauty and fashion products did I buy in August? Let’s see…

Body Care

Drysol Extra Strength – My husband told me about this product after I told him about the Perspirex product I received (and tried). The main ingredient in this is the same as in the Perspirex Original. I procrastinated too much on purchasing the Perspirex, and my husband was heading out to Shoppers Drug Mart so I asked him to grab me some Drysol because I needed to reapply ASAP. I only use it once a week and it’s been working great! It’s easier to purchase for me since I live close to Shoppers. This is the Extra Strength version, but I think the Regular would work just as well for me since I don’t sweat profusely. Next time I’ll go for that one.

Nair – Wax Strips for Sensitive Skin x2 – These are now my favourite wax strips; they work really well.

Clothing

All of these clothing items are size small. For size reference, I’m 5’6″ and weigh 135lbs.

HM sweatpants

H&M – Sweatpants – After seeing Chelle talk about the H&M sweatpants she bought in July (watch her video), I decided to get some for myself because I don’t actually own sweatpants. I figured with Fall just around the corner, they would be warmer than my leggings. Whenever I get a first of something, I always go for black, so I got them in black. They are very comfy. I have washed them since, and I feel like they shrunk a teensy bit, but they stretched right back after wearing them. The size small is a tad too baggy for my liking (it keeps sliding down at the waist), but I feel the XS would have been too tight. They may be worth a try though, just to see. Next time…

This Girl Is A Hero Wonder Woman tee

Walmart – This Girl Is A Hero WW Tee – I was in store when I saw this shirt on the racks and I immediately grabbed it. I only tried it on once I got home and it fits perfectly! This one doesn’t seem to be available online, but there is a similar one that says This Girl Plays Rough. I prefer mine though so I’m glad I found it. I have not washed it yet so I don’t know if it will shrink or not.

Walmart – Wonder Woman Logo Tee – After buying the WW tee in store, I decided to look online to see what else they had, and I really liked this one so I bought it. The shirt is not the same as in the picture online, but I still really like it. I have not washed this one yet either so I can’t comment on shrinkage. I’ll add a note in my September purchases so you know.

Walmart – Pyjama pants – When I was in-store I looked at their pyjama pants, but they didn’t have any in my size. So when I shopped online afterwards I bought two pyjama pants (heart print and leopard print). Since I’ve never tried them before, I didn’t want to get too many because I didn’t know if they would shrink or not after I washed them. I’ve washed them both and they did not shrink, yay! So I’ll be grabbing more in the future because they are SO comfy!

Face Care

Hard Candy – Primers – I currently use the Sheer Envy Mattifying Primer and needed more. When I got to Walmart I was confused at which primer I needed because I usually recognize it by packaging, and they now have new packaging. The old packaging for the Mattifying Primer was blue. The new one is green. The new Pore Defense Primer is blurple, which is closer to what the Mattifying Primer used to be, so that’s what confused me. So I bought both just to be sure.

Hair Care

Bumble and bumble – Curl Defining Cream – I received a sample size of this product in a previous order and I really liked how it defined my curls without being crunchy. I use it on freshly washed hair so that it helps keep my curls looking better after a night’s sleep. And I use it on second-day hair to help revive my curls. It smells really nice, and it’s also a UV protector, which is great for all the time we’ve been spending outside.

Bumble and bumble – Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer – This is a HG product for me. It’s appeared in my purchases and empties many times already. It’s great at detangling hair, at protecting hair, and it smells wonderful.

I usually order my Bumble and bumble products from their website and they always include free samples. For this order, I decided to get them from Sephora so I could get different kinds of samples (because I have lots of BB samples). Well, there were ZERO samples in my order, which I was really disappointed by. So going forward I will only buy them directly from Bumble and bumble, no more Sephora.

And that’s all the beauty and fashion expenses I had in August.

What have you been spending your money on?

– Chantal 🙂
